what is this foam pieces coming out of a/c vents?
hello
just today i saw a brownish looking foam chunk stuck where the air vent was...took it out..like stale foam...
this has happned a few times in the past but never remembered to make a mental note of it.just lil chunks of foam (not often but the pieces vary is size)..what is and where is it coming from and if its some sort of filter is it easy to replace?
thanx

It's common in a lot of cars as they get older... it's the foam from the joints in the air vents. It gets old and separates from the plastic since the adhesive fails. Could replace if it you wanted to maintain a rattle-free and sealed air duct, but not necessary. Both of the Honda's I owned in the past did this.

I doubt you will notice a difference. The foam is placed at every joint where the vents are coupled together. The most likely spot is about 5 inches into the vents. You would have to remove them to do it. Is it worth it? Probably not.
