What do you do first?

Okay, I just wanted to take a poll to see what everyone considers as first priortity when hookin' up the rider. For me personally it's rims (18'Chrome Please!) To me it changes the overall look of the car, in most cases for the good. I just thought this would be an interesting topic of conversation. HollaBac!

I first thing that I did was drop the car. I need to see how the car would sit before getting rims. Not to mention the fact that I don't have a garage and leaving my rims out in the open all week for people to see doesn't thrill me.

Very first thing I will do when the new car arrives is tint the windows... from there... probably spoiler, then strut brace and sways. I'm going to wait on the rims for now....

I went for the intake. Performance first IMO.

I have not actually done any mods to the CL, but if I was going for looks... ... definitely drop the car first. It will not only look great, but it will help your performance*, too.

*if you do it right!!! the guy in this forum seem to have alot of knowledge gathered up for us to learn from, too.

PS. As for the rims, they will look great, but 18" chromes are definitely heavy, and will degrade your performance some... ... just want you to make and informed decision.

Your right melo72, I forgot to mention the drop in addition to the rims. I learned the hard way. I got my rims before I dropped my car. My shit looked like a jeep until I got it lowered like a week later...Hideous!!

Yup, I say drop the car first. After all, dropping the car is a performance upgrade too. Speed for the turns!!! So, it's for both performance and looks!

Well, I tinted my windows w/ 5% black all around (a.k.a. limo tint). I also had about 1/3 of the windshield done. But, alas, the coppers busted me and I had to get it removed not too long ago. It was sweet but now I don't want to go and put 35s on -- they seem way too light for me. Grrr!

Tint, Sound System, Intake, then your posiabilities are endless only limited by your imigination and mabey your wallet
I like the little things that personalize the car and make it unique or different. Dont like big huge spoilers cause they are pointless on a fwd car and look out of place most of the time.

i've come to the conclusion that rims are just a slowing down technique.. an 18 inch rim weighs so much compared to a 16 stock.. and its bigger which slows the car down a bit... and you have to sport small ass tires.. i'd rather be a sleeper

you could bet a pair of 17's that weigh less than stock. That shouldent slow you down. I would think it would have the oppisite affect. Hint: Crome looks nice but its heavy as hell!

wait so u got chrome 18's already or what. if u dotn i wouldnt get them if u are intrested in speed and power cuz 18's especially chrome will slow down ur little 2.2. and light weight 18's go for like 3000 for a set of 4. well lets just say they will be mad expesive, but if u dont care then make sure u get light rims. im personally getting oz supperleggeras. they weigh only 15 lbs!! i got exhaust, intake, venom 400, and (pullies, fpr, and dc headers) on the way and my car still needs mo power. i mean its fine on the highway, but stop and go driving my small f22 need more power and ill take all i can get. i dont not want any civics beating me unless they are heavily modded.

Hey Casper, how did you make your ram air?
well, it was simple and creative...
find a material that is easy to bend and durable... I used an old paint tray, thin aluminum... Cut it and mold it to the desired V-wedge shape... I chose 1.5" pocket... buy some gutter mesh, and L-bend it to cover the front opening and the top opening... paint the aluminum with rest resistant black spray paint, drill holes in the aluminum and zip tie the mesh to it... pull down your plastic under-body shield(2 screws, one under the car in front, one in the wheel well), use a dremil and cut out the appropriate size hole where the slots already exist... then fit your damn into place, liquid nail/silicone it in place and spray it again for touch up...

Tahts all... It takes about 30 mins to do...
makesa huge difference in air flow...

When I got my car I was going to redo the sound system because I took my 2 10's out of my other car and put them in this one. I was also going to replace the stock alarm system with a Clifford AvantGuard 4, but I found my rims on ebay for an awsome deal so I got those and dropped my car with prokit springs. Since I bought the rims and all I was able to get the alarm but my parents were kind enough to pay for some of it.

But if I had a new car I would first:
tint
system
drop it w/ rims
suspension
engine

I'm just gonna do it all at once when I finally get mine. I guess first will be putting in the system from my del Sol. I will probably get the WW front bumper lip while it's in there getting the system done and hopefully take it straight from the stereo place about 30 yards away to a place that can throw on the coilovers. Then I'll take it home to put the wheels/tires on.

I'm still not 100% sure about intakes/headers/exhaust. I see the CL as more of a semi-luxury car anyways, so kinda seems out of place with a loud exhaust and intake. That's just me though.

Yeah the first thing I did was order my rims shortly after that I got it lowered. I was going to get an intake, exhaust and headers. But then I found out the 3.2 was coming out so I decided to wait on any engine mods. Then yesterday I went down to the dealership and they confirmed that SIX SPEED 3.2 CL AND TL!!! Will be out by dec '02. So as soon as I get one I'm going all out. Until then I save up the scratch I was going to spend on my 2.2... Oh the sacrafices

It's your own preferrence, but I wouldn't do it all at once. One of my friends did that same exact thing and within a few months (6 or so) he was completely bored with the car. I would do it in steps. Then you'll never get bored or broke.
