What a difference!

So this weekend me and my frat brothers had to take a trip to NJIT from Penn State for the northeast region district meeting. We decided to take my brother's car, which is a '92 Honda Accord with an h22 swap, since it was the only 4 door. Being that the engine obviously doesnt belong in the car, there are still a few kinks to work out, like he need a new heater core (which made for a fairly cold trip) and few other kinks. So we packed 5 bros into the car n made the trip. He has i/h/e, and the car is LOUD. I used to have exhaust on my old CL, so it didnt really bother me much for the ride there, it was just the ride back when i had a HUGE hangover from the previous night's party that it really got to me. Even with a high flow cat, 2.5 inch piping, and a magnaflow muffler my old CL was never that loud (my current CL doesnt have exhaust yet). Although its loud, the car is also noticably faster than my CL. He ran some dude in a civic hatch that was revving at him at a light with 5 guys, our luggage, and his subs in the trunk really quick and decimated him. So i was thinking "wow, i'd kill for power like this." But then, when we got back to penn state i got in my CL and i pretty much fell in love again. The leather, properly working heat, and smooth ride made me say "WOWW...i really missed a nice refined ride!" My CL felt SOOO smooth after driving around in my brother's accord, i loved it. It felt like i was being spoiled. No SUPER loud road noise, way more comfortable seats, everything working properly and no need to ghetto rig anything, felt like a world of difference. Now only if i could get the same amount of horsepower as him, or more!

P.S. : mixing heineken, vodka and couvarsier in the same night, not a good choice

Yes there is a definite difference in ride quality, my buddy has a 91 4 door civic so I know the feeling. Having a more powerful engine in a lighter car will feel better almost every time! IMO Vodka doesn't sit well when mixing other drinks. I can only stand it in martinis mostly. I think people who put exhaust on anything near a luxury car (including my past experiences!) are goofy unless it unlocks a huge amount of extra power. Being anything except blown, there isn't much power to be unlocked. Constant exhaust drone gets to anyone after awhile I think.

The CL is definitely more refined that alot of the cars that we could drive otherwise. My friend has a 93 Plymouth Laser RS, i/h/e and all that. It's fast, handles better than the CL but the suspension is stiff, its claustrophobic inside and the exhaust gets really annoying after a few hours. I enjoy driving his car every once in a while but then i'm happier than a pig in shit to get into my CL with power seats, sunroof and a spacious interior.

p.s. Vodka rules

dude I know exactly how you feel. I'm selling my h22 swapped 93 accord to buy a 99 CL. When I test drove it, it is a lot smoother than my accord. Having the H22 in an accord would of made an awesome weekend car but it's not a great DD. It was awesome while it lasted but it's definately time to get something newer/nicer.

how do you like having the h22 in your CL? did u lose anything like power steering or have something not work properly like A/C or something? I'd love to have that power, but w/o losing all the amenities that make the CL a great n comfortable car.

im still gonna get an exhaust system, just trying to gonna get a quiet muffler. im going performance crazy on my car once i get the $$, but i also would like to keep the practicality and comfort of it that i have now cuz going through a weekend with that h22 accord really opened my eyes on the difference

H22 is a direct fit. I didnt lose PS nor AC. Even with a turbo setup you can still maintain those in our cars. The location of the mounts allown the engine to sit all the way back therefore u have a lot of space in front.
N yeah I love my engine. Not to jinx it. On the way home just now I couldnt take the Porsch turbo but the 260hp Maxima i had in the bag 90+ MPH
btw no one has to believe me

Loud exhaust on a CL is just :ghey:. I always thought that the CL would be the perfect sleeper. It has all the amenities and with the right efforts can be fairly fast. Have any of you noticed where you are when the light turns green? I've never WOT'd the car from a light and I still usually end up way ahead of the other cars that were stopped with me. No peel offs or anything, just normal driving. Odd.

everyone used to sleep on the H22. now for some reason the 3.0 guys finally are giving you guys some respect. even though they should have in the first place.

Here we go again...
the whole 3.0 vs 2.x question...
We all know the answer...
But I will say there are advantages to both.
But if we (3.0 owners) had a manual...
The 2.x guys could NEVER touch us.

What are you talking about. I beat the guy by 5+car lengths and it wasnt even a full run. Dont start this again. U get whatever you want. A 7 speed if necessary. J30+gross weight=slow. Im not saying my car is the fastest but its much faster then yours budy.
