I'd say if you're willing to spend 20k on a new car just put about 8k in your own by getting a new engine and new transmission = new car

Ha, I saw a Sky this morning. Looks ok, but I knew it was a Saturn, and it made me want to yell "you are ." Then I wanted to

hey i see a bunch of 98-00 BMW 540i for around $10K. Try ur CL in and get one of those. or do what i do and just get a GS300...that car is so pimp. only got it for like 2 weeks now and i got girls jocking the shit out of it already. too bad my gf was standing next to me

If you dont have a good career rightnow...just try to finish school, u only have a few more years left.

FYI, do not get a s2000 if u're gonna be using that as your main car. you will hate it. that car is nice to drive once in awhile. its not a good commuting car.

oh CJ,

my my how the times change. IMO you should stay in school. Leaving school to make car payments is a bad idea. Stay in school, with a shitty car, get a good job with your degree, and make payments on a much nicer car bc you have a good job.

School is a short time of your life, Stay with it.

hey...if your cl's falling apart...toss it. unless you're emotionally attached to it, let it go (i got rid of my cl and i never looked back, the wife does but i don't). i won't say don't buy american because i've had a few (actually all of the big 3) and have never been to the dealership for any problems, maybe i'm lucky. but you do need to finish school before you try to ball outta control with the cars. cop a civic or something, graduate, and then hit the lot. in that order

I think that's our main point, don't worry about what your'e gonna get just yet, it's nice to dream, but don't drop school man, it's a bad decision.

i kinda took a long break from school cuz i was making more than what i would after getting out of school. But i still wanna go back and finish it slowly just in case one day i dont have this job anymore. *knock on wood* its always good to finish what you started, especially school. try looking for something you can pay cash for and still enjoy driving that for a few years. If ur CL isn't falling apart just keep it.

you will pay a shitload more to have a car with a loan too because you have to get collision coverage which in my case takes my ins from $629 a year to $2000 a year.

Alright...well, It all depends on what my insurance says...Ive got some hail damage...yes, i think the CF hood might of gotten F*ed up..) but anyway...If there is a shit ton of damage, they could total out the car. I need to go get it appraised. Im not going to quit school...but rather take it @ a slower pace i guess. I really have made any final decisions. My car goes in the shop again next week to replace the o2 sensor, replace the entire wheel well that got ripped/melted off by my tire, and replace the CAI filter w/ a new one...cuz not thats F*ed up. Then I'll get the damage appraised...and go from there.

I understand ya'll...Saturns do suck. But, if i were to get something else, I'd want to make sure its something that im actually going to enjoy. I think an S2k or WRX or GTI or any of those might be too much $$....and i dont even wanna think about insurance...(yea, even that sky would prob be a shit ton for insurance.) I'll prob keep the car. I'd like to keep my CL...but if everyweek something else falls off or breaks (just like whats been happening) then theres no reason to keep something that needs to be back in the shop every week)

I'll keep ya'll updated on what happens.

BTW: my parents just signed the papers yesterday for the new 2007 Lexus ES....they pick it up Monday, May 2nd. I think their getting the first one in Kansas. Its gonna be pimp! I'll def. take picts that Monday when they get it. (Its their first Brand New Car...my moms allllll excited..lol)

That is great for them... very nice ride.

You know, I'm 35 and I have still not ever bought a brand new car. Untill I can pay cash or make a hell of a down payment, I'm not gonna.

The idea of taking the big hit and being upside down on a car would make me crazy.

I got an idea.. Probably just a pipe dream, but its a thought.

How about you get a new CL. Then switch all the parts out from you're old one to the new one then switch the stock parts back to you're old one.

...Thats waay too impractical.

Dump school to buy a frickin' car? I tell you why school hasn't been going well for you - because you're dumb as a box of rocks. Start getting serious about your future, you've got your whole life to buy a hot new car.

about as reliable as a gm ;-) jk but you make the most important point that there is: wait at least 2 years to get quality reports on a new model THEN buy a car.

I'm looking at picking up a 99 Subie 2.5GT wagon for a project car. My daily beater\driver is needing a clutch and eating up oil, and a couple other little things. I need a wagon so I can put the kids and fido in it.

Do you have a Subie website you can recommend? Anything along the lines of Acurazine?

I just got an Accord v6 6 speed. It's VERY quick and built way better than my 3.0. No regrets, here.
