Is this weird or what.

Today my wife took her Acura CL ( 1997 ) to the shop to have the starter changed. They did nothing else. Now when she puts the car in D4 and presses on the gas it starts in that gear. I can put the car in one and then 2 and then D3 and then D4 and it drives fine. Other than that it starts from a stand still like in D3 or D4. Did they forget to coinnect a shifting hose or connector? To put the starter on they had to remove the battery.

Can someone help?

I don't know, but...

Can you look under the hood yourself and see if the electrical connections, hoses, etc look to be in place?

I'm going to put a copy of this in the 1st Gen Forum.

hmmm... sounds like ur pressure switches r disconected or dammaged. there are two little switches just below (1" or so) the starter. if they disconnected them they may have put the wrong plug on the wrong switch. one is black and one is brown. (those are ur 1-2 3-4 shift switches.) try and look below the starter and see if maybee they put the black connector on the brown switch and vice verca. they are inter changable. like i said before one is black and one is brown. there is two wire connectors which connect to them which are also black and brown. obviously they both go togather. there is also a ground which comes from the same wire bundle the starter wires are on and goes to a bolt on the transmission. that ground grounds ALL the sensors. if that is undone none of the switches or sensors work. if that wasent the problem hit me up. good luck.and sorry for the long post.
