weird question about CAI...

Hello,

Got a quick question... I installed a CAI intake.. After I installed it when the car idles it sounds like a deep hummm... I mean it is LOUD. I have installed a couple of intakes before and nothing has sounded like this before.

It's not like the lound flow of air sound but a deep Vibrate sound? Does the 3.0 sound like this with a CAI?

The 3.0 sounds like that also, really depends on the filter and the resonator box

I'm getting quite tired of mine and its whistling, whenever I give the car gas above about 2500rpm it whistles till about the time vtec starts. Many people think it's a loose belt, because it's so high pitched. I've tried an APC filter and now have a large K&N, same noise, so it must be the TB, or intake manifold, either way its obnoxious.

what brand of intake do you guys have? I have heard that the size of the pipe can make a difference in performance as well as sound. A larger intake doesnt necessarily mean more power. I know AEM's intake is only 2.75in wide and some others run 3in.

Haha I love that whistle. For me it's more of a loud sucking sound that only lasts half a second. Kinda like a "Pshhh" from a BOV.

Most of us use $40 3" ebay intakes (I recommend bomz racing) with K&N filters.
