Weight Reduction Stage 1.5
Weight Reduction Stage 1.5
for anyone that wants to lose a few hundred pounds without eating like a bird.. this is how its done folks.. first of all.. rip out all your seats and buy a racing seat.. i'm in the process of that.. but for now.. just take out all the seats..the back seats have a 50lb plate behind them.. if you want your back seats.. take the plate out and put the back seats back in later.. back side paneling.. and the whole interior of the trunk.. see all that ugly black matting? its stock dynamat.. and in total it weighs around 100lbs.. if you tried chiseling it off.. you'd have a heart attack.. so whip out a torch and melt that shit until its bubbeling.. and slowly chisel it away.. theres a strip over the exhaust in the trunk.. and the whole floor from your trunk to you pedals is covered with double think layer of it.. its a good day project and your car will be noticeably lighter and louder mind you.. so rip up the carpet and get to work.. after that.. door strenght pipes.. ripem out.. stock jack holder? rip it out.. big piece of medal where the trunk closes.. rip it out.. and if your really hardcore.. take the bumpers off and that huge bar behind the bumper.. those weigh a ton and a half.. no exageration.. just don't get into an accident.. airbags weigh a good 20lbs prolly rip them out..driver seat is the heaviest beast in the world.. weighin it around 75lbs.. passanger seat is non motorized so rip that out too it weighs around 50lbs.. you'll end up taking around 300-500lbs out if you do it right.. i just got done ripping out the dynamat.. racing seats are next.. i just need to find good ones
damn dude why don't you just buy roll cage and a helmet and call it a drag car? Thats what you made it into. lol I always thought that we were supposed to be a luxury coupe. Well we got F0de ripping the luxury right out of it. Oh well i guess whatever makes you happy. Keep us informed.
f0de, my car already is apart, and i can tell you the plate behind the rear seats is about 5 lbs. it is just sheet metal. the rear bumper is out, and that ways 30-35 lbs. the front bumper is almost weightless, it is construction of a hard plastic.
i can weigh them if you want, but there isnt much stuff that will make a noticeable difference. already tried! anyway, good luck. look at arospeed for seats, and email me if you need a price.

Hey I just wanted to say that f0de is doing something that no one else would have done in the past, make the 2.2 a racer. I'll commend him on being a pioner there. Personally I'd be hapy with just the H22 and some NOS, maybie a turbo. Juast so i can sleep some people. But good job f0de even though we may all flame you for doing it.

and if you want to save weight on a 3.0 rip out every piece of plastic in the engine bay and under the car, good for about 30 lbs
also the plate behind the rear seat weighs about 18 lbs if i remember correctly when i weighed mine. The rear seats combine to a little over 10 lbs

the sound deadening shit helps alot. We've ripped it out of every civic and integra that my buddies own, it's good for a good 50+ lbs and probally more in our car because we have alot more of it.
also, don't bother gutting your doors...i've tried it...there isn't much to lose unless you wanna lose part of the luxury you have. Also, your car will be real loud driving down the street. The bumpers are fine, they are already light weight, just get rid of the plastic shit underneath.

and the plastic under the hood may way a total of 2 lbs. the plastics under the car, especially in the front, serve a purpose of keeping air flowing under the car and not going up into the car, which causes drag. by removing them you are adding drag and actually slowing down your car. the 5/3 angle valve job, ported intake, and balance shaft removal will make up for power i gain with my added weight, and will give me more power than a cl with common engine work that is 200 lbs lighter. trust me!
I hate to tell you but the plastic things under the hood dont weigh shit, i know i got them off of kikazcl97 car when he wrecked it. they are sitting in my garage if you would like me to weigh them for you.
And why the hell do you have to be knocking rmstoico?
Hes doing stuff not many if any people have done.
He does us all good here and who are u to be talkin shit?
What have you done to your car that is so great?

lots of shit, you name it i've got it...everything but headers, have custom mandrel bent exhaust, nitrous kit, 3.0 slammed. Strut bars, 18"s, cai, plug wires, pulleys, bored out throttle body. I was gonna extrude hone the intake manifold but have decided to sell instead. Was gonna do a custom turbo but am selling the car instead

sorry, but the stock bumpers are pretty light, you've alread said that in the top. the black widow kit is a pretty heafty heavy kit, i've installed it on a few accords out here at the shop i used to work at. And sine your adding weight how are you gonna be 200 lbs lighter? i'd love to trust you, just don't understand your methods of putting cylinders on a car your trying to make quick and a good handler. I see that your doing a show car. Just out here show cars don't sit on chrome and have air cylinders. They sit on crazy color combos or polished wheels and are set up w/ handling mods like coil overs and strut bars and sway bars and shit like that.

2. i am not doing a complete widow kit, just the rear, and it is not heavy dude, i dont know where you came up with that!
3. i never said i was going to be 200 lbs lighter. what i said if you would have read correctly is that i will be faster than a cl that is 200 lbs lighter, because of the extensive mods i am doing aka 5/3 angle job, balance shaft removal, etc...
4. do you have any experience with cylinders? my car handles better now than it did with coilovers. and it is adjustible on top of that. the only disadvantage to cylinders is the bumpy ride when the car is all the way up, which i only do to put it on the trailer, or drag.
5. like you said, everyone does crazy color combos and coilovers. why do i want to be like everyone else? most people that do coilovers would love to cylinders if they knew how to install them and if they had the money(not that i have a lot of money), think about it, they want something with adjustibility, and that follows the same principle of cylinders.
6. you say you have lots of shit on your car, but your list is mostly bolt on mods that everyone else does. to me, tons of shit (as you say) means machine shop work on the engine, ecu modification, balance shaft removal, extreme weight loss,
7. why do you have 18's if you are trying to be fast? that is the most ass backwards thing i have ever heard. go with 15's or 16's if you want to be fast, you'll lose a few mph at top speed, but how often is that compared to your everyday light to light racing that will improve from a smaller wheel diameter.
8. also, for future reference.... plug wires do nothing for a car, it is a mod that will never improve performance of your car, they will only bring it back to factory specs.
so go back and read my thread again before you make all these false assumptions. and have a nice evening!

don't know anyone who wants coilovers that would trade them in for air cylinders. When i'mt alking about coilovers i'm talking about things like tien and apexi and company's who make true coilovers. And no one who wants good suspension work would trade those in for cylinders sorry.
I had everything possible but headers and was about to start on the enternals and a turbo in a month or so but am on my 3rd tranny already and out of my warranty so i'm not going to even bother, hence why i'm getting rid of my car and buying a wrx.
Well, i made up for it by buying 18's that only weight 17 lbs. I'm not making this car a race car either, cause that would be a joke. BUt wanted to add a little look to the car and have the front tucked a good amount.
spark plug wires improve the spark when i use my nitrous, but ya, they probally don't do any good for daily driving
You dont' want the best spark possible

and back to the spark plug wires Better spark equates to better ignite the mixture and less arcing for a better burn. I actually dynoed this mod, got 3 HP which isn't much but also noticed a gain in my MPG's. Now would i of bought anything other then the magnecore wires i have? no

Out here show cars are put on crazy color combos
Why would you want to do this to a car?
Do you by chance have gold teeth and wear a upside down visor backwards while stiing sideways in your car bouncing up and down stearing with a chain stearing wheel and screaming IM A THUG !!!
I always thought the purpose of fixing a car up was to make it look nice, personaly i like cleen looking cars alot beter than crazy looking cars.
I see so many cars that look like they got eaten by one of thoes car eatting machines at a monster truck show along with 500 diff colors of paint then thrown back up.

haha, sorry, didn't want to make me sound like trash. By that i meant we don't use chrome, gunmetal, black, white, bronze are the popular colors of choice. Chrome has basically phased itself out. Body kits are going out of style on the street scene and people are sticking to more classic lines

well, i planned on extrude honing and boring the intake manifold too so if you do that stuff it'll be worth it

what making the car butt fucking ugly? I'm sorry, body kits like the rear end of the black wido are fucking ugly. What other mods does he have that are really dream worthy? air cylinders? those should of been left to mini trucks.
