leaving school today i was extremely surprised i didnt kill my cl... i only have a short intake, and my fucking car was so far down in the water it must have been less than an inch off of the cone filter... the car stopped moving for a second because there was so much water to move through and the tires wouldn't grip at all..

My car has done that about 8 times and there is nothing wrong with it, it just needs to bassicalyl dry out a little, before the water really hurts anything the car just shuts off. And my friend had a bypass valve and he hit a pothole in his 97 2.2 the wheel well liner broke and the tire hit the intake and took it fight off from where the bypass valve was connected. so im straight with by pass i just dont drive in the rain or snow, everyone with a moded car needs a second car i believe

to answer your question... you need to remove all the spark plugs, drain the oil. cause there will be water in the oil. turn it over with all that removed. if there is a problem it will have trouble turning over or you will hear the valves. once you turn it over to get all the water out of the pistons reinstall the spark plugs, replace the oil filter, and oil. then start and cross your fingers. good luck pimp.

Did the car stall out as soon as he drove through the puddle or did he make it home? You can't compress water so if any made it into the cylinders you would have cracked the block or bent a rod or the valves.

At this point, dry it out and start it up and see what it sounds like. But from what you said it doesn't sound too good.

THe motor may still run even though something is bent. My friends Jeep ran for 2 mor weeks before the rod that bent snapped and punched a hole in the side of the block the size of a softball.

i meant to remove the plugs and drain the oil.. and turn it over. not start it. which it couldnt do with the plugs removed. being that he has water in the cylinder there is water in the oil. and like someone said earlier, you cannot compress a fluid, so if the oil pan is totally full of water you will bend a rod or destroy a bearing if the water gets pushed thru the oil journals. once the oil is drained with the plug still out, and oil filter removed, and sparkplugs removed turn it over to get the water out of the journals.

just turn the key like your going to start it (it will not start cause you will not have the plugs in) let it kick over for bout 15 seconds at a time. do this 2-3 times.
