its not that i want them really bright, its that i want them really really clear looking. like projectors would be. what should i get?

Convert some 9005 bulbs to fit in the 9006 housing. I bought some Sylvania XtraVision bulbs and they're much brighter than anything else except HIDs. You'll have to aim your lights down a bit though so you don't blind oncoming traffic.

Have to disagree on SilverStars... No brighter than GE NightHawks and I replaced 3 sets in 6 months. NightHawks still work after a year, in fact they're in the glove box in case the 9005s blow. Half the cost too.

No, unless you said they were 9005s.

Edit: To take it a step further, I just can't see spending double the money for headlights that really aren't any brighter than a standard 9006 and don't last. I'm not sure how long the Xtravisions will last, but they sure as hell are brighter than any 9006 bulb and they're only $16/set.

I've always recommended people to get the Sylvania cool blues, if you search for that you'll find me recommending them a million times because they're cheap, bright white and last. 9005 to me is just ghetto, you're putting something in your headlight housing that doesn't belong. For all that work, you might as well put a cheap HID kit in the car and really blind people

i used to swear by them, but the one time i went in to grab a set, they were out. The Silverstar Ultra's were on sale so i figure what the heck.

I haven't gone back, love em.

But i'll admit i've been tempted to grab the cheap HID's. Maybe in a year when the silverstars go.

Then don't do the 9005 conversion, that's all it is

Because 9005s are brighter than HID kits / HID Projectors.

No, I know what you're saying man. It is a ghetto setup, but I intentionally aimed the lights down and toward the right so they're not blinding anyone. I drive at night daily and haven't been flashed once. Driven past cops, no problems.

It's not any different than buying an HID kit without projectors, whether it's an eBay brand or a good one like KAIXEN, which people do all the time (don't you have that setup in your Yoter?) It's just cheaper and not as bright. I'm holding on to my old headlights to do a retrofit, I just don't know if I'll ever come up with the funds. This is just a cheap way to get some brighter headlights.

I had a plug and play HID kit in my yoter, but I blew a ballast and removed them. I have another set to go in, just too busy/lazy

No idea, it just started flicking on and off, and then blew like 3-4 fuses in my 4runner, so I yanked the wires and put silverstars back in so I could get the car inspected and then winter hit so I never messed with it. I have 2 pnp 9006 kits for my truck for the fogs and headlights, I'm planning in the spring on using one of the other ballasts making sure everything works and rolling with it. I need to see if there's a way to return the ballast under warranty, never really looked into it.
