VTEC no workey???
VTEC no workey???
Tell me what YOU think!! Everybody says that with their short ram air intake - they can here and feel the VTEC kick in. I dont feel shit and i definetly dont hear a damn thing different through the ENTIRE rpm range??? Is there supposed to be a dramatic difference or something between non-vtec engaged and vtec engaged??? Help me out here!
I have a short ram, and I can hear it. MAke sure car is warmed up first!...then in D3 accelerate slowly, dont punch it, cuz then you wont hear the tone change. At 3 1/2 rpms you should hear the tone get lower, louder and more aggressive..... its addiciting, youll love it once you relize what you are listening for.....

I can tell when I'm "on" VTEC... passing cars @ 60MPH (3,500 RPM's) , drop it into 3rd and hit the pedal - it's almost like a turbo boost and when I hit 6,000 RPM's I shift into 4th (usually doing about 85-90MPH). Sure a lot of performance from a 4 banger!

if the VTEC is not working, you'll get a CEL (check engine light). On the 2.2/2.3 its not too noticable when it kicks in... if you had a DOHC vtec motor, you'd notice it a lot more... as well as with the 3.0... on my old 3.0 it was like hitting NOS when vtec kicked in!!
So if you're not getting a CEL, then VTEC is working... but like I said, its not very noticable with the F22/23 engines.
As far as I know, the f22/23 has an oil level sensor too, I remember once my oil was low (filter was loose) and my CEL started comming on, I diagnosed it and got code 21, VTEC system malfunction... when I was fishing around in the engine compartment, I noticed the oil leak and checked the oil... about a quart low... so I tightened the filter, added oil and no more CEL... VTEC now works fine.
Trust me, if VTEC isnt working, you'll know it... if you punch it and rev the car past 4k, it feels like you're driving a yugo... theres no power at all...
Also, with the CL's, the VTEC does not kick in till the car is warmed up to a certain temp... its suposed to do that.
