Vtec Lag / Cut out HELP

Its been about 4000 since my last oil change ( i plan on doing it tommaro ) but, lately, my car has been acting realy realy strange. The car, when i go around a turn realy fast or step on it out of a turn, the motor just cuts out realy quickly and then hit back in but not hard, then after about 5000 the whole motor comes to life realy realy hard and by then im like wtf !!!? then, when im driving, ill floor it and the car moves, but im like wtf were my power, then realy late in the rpm range my vtec hits tremendously hard from 45 to 60 and the wheels just spin until i shift . The car never used to do this, it used to have that power smoothly uptill 60. This lag is realy killing me, and i have no idea what it is. Between that and my engine cutting out for slpit second's im baffeld.

mine does the same thing. i was also over due on a oil change. i went to all synthetic and the lucas synthetic additive and it is awesome. now only if i hit a sharp curve at high speeds, it still does the cut out and comes back hard has hell. it almost feels like the motor is being put in a bind, and the second it releases it puts you inyour seat. also you might just wanna check you motor mounts and make sure they are still good. Some on said that the cam might be wore out since there are 191,000 on mine.

If u delay oil changes, over time ur Vtec solenoid has little chunks in it. This causes ur vtec to lag. If it keeps happening u will get Vtec Failure and it wont let engage at all. If u do a lot of stop n go driving, u should get ur solenoid checked out. I changed mine at 100k miles.

The solenoid has an electrical sensor and is very sensitive. I wouldnt recommend cleaning it. Replace the damn thing. do a tune up only if ur due. And what froggy said; Check to motor mounts..

now, ifyou are careful you can clean the vtec selonoid. ihave done this for the hell of it. remove the 10mm bolts that hold the vtec to the head, the bottom one is really tricky. once removed, make sure that you unplugged the vtec harness. what i did is before i took it off the head, i broke lose the top 3 12mm bolts so i could take it apart easier. once it is on a table, remove the 3 remaining bolts and remove the selonoid part. once removed, there will be a round metal peice that will fall out, dont loose it. no take the lower part outside with a can of wd40 and clean the lower screen out and the rest of the holes. alot cheaper than a new selonoid

Thanks guys for the help, i checked my motor mounts there fine, i think i just need some fresh oil in her and ill clean the selonoid tonight along with my ( inspection on the exhuast ( somethings ratteling my engine is the f22b1 with moderate internal work and ecu modification. ( i only make power to about 6400 rpm but when i race i use the extra rpms depending on my oponent ( how long there gear lasts and then use that extra 3 to 6 mph to jump into my next gear ahead of schedual.

Just some info. if you race that much you should be changing your oil more frequently. you are, in a sence, doubleing maybe tripleing the use of a normal driver. and you are probably burning alot more oil, and starving your engine for oil in those"hard turns".
and I live up in Rochester...I'll be going down to binghamton in a few weeks for a graffiti expo. we can run then. I aint as modded as you but fuckit.
