vs chevy

uh no joke. and doubt all you want. im still trying to convince myself, but i just walked a corvette..yes i admit it was an 84 model. but hey its still a corvette. i looked it up and im slacking 40 hp. so either the dude didnt know how to drive the manual or its daddys and he was scared to hurt it. either way he looked like a douch in front of his girl.

Maybe the Crappy crossfire injection those models of corvette had was doing what it does best, which is screwing up.

i'm more than sure I can smoke a 3.0CL in 5.0 Mustang, even with a burn out. 5 speed manual of course. what's in 84 corvette anyways? a gm 350 small block?

Yeah, they had 350's in them. Only generate 200 or so HP though according to the books, but those could have been understated.

They have never outrun me though. I did lose to a ram air firebird damn thing killed me by like 4 lengths come to find out it was runnin 11.9's and 12.0's. I hate those things............

you have internet right? google is a click away.
but since you're too lazy, they're the 80's early 90's mustangs. my dad had a white with blue stripes fox body 5.0. and when he drove my uncle's BB4 he said it was faster then his old fox body.

Those fox bodies ran high 14's low 15's stock (14.8-15.2). With a shitty driver, you can easily see why it can be seen as slow.

besides fox body mustangs, the vettes werent exactly fast in the 80's. I've seen this on the street and on the track. I cant count how many times I raced my old 91' accord EX against fox bodies, not ONE ever beat me. Not that I stomped them, but they were always in the rear view, or at the max along side me. Vettes amittedly are faster than our cars, but in the 70's-80's they were beatable. I beat a stingray in my accord, but he missed second, I could hear him grinding the gears along side me.

I raced(in the CL) an early 80's vette at the track twice, once lost to him and once beat him. However that night at the track, the fox bodies beat me, but they were not stock. No idea what they had in them, but they were easily beating me by 1-2sec. in the 1/4mi.

yeah, myxomatosis. i looked up corvettes i mean they had power, back then. but unless someone maintains that yearly, after about 20 years that power is gone. kinda crazy though that the power corvettes had in the eighties, little japanese cars have today...

The older Vettes had a lot more power. The C2s (63-67) came in small block and big blocks (up to 427 CI). The 327 small blocks you could get in 365 HP from the factory... if you do some basic engine work (bore, new cam, lifters) you can easily reach 400 HP.

yeah and i think that was the best model. it hadnt fallen into the classic mold that the corvette has been in for decades. but it was sad that the power dropped..if you progressed corvette power it would be well into the 800s. but they slacked off later on after the 67 model

Everythings power dropped. The gas crisis from the 70's happened and the govt started regulating what kind of power a car could make, that was also when smog equipment became mandatory. Look at the mustang, in the mid sixties to the early 70's the power was doing nothing but going up, the size of the cars got a little bigger too. Then all of a sudden, we have the mustang II, a mustang based on the ford pinto platform. It wasnt that they voluntarily started making underpowered engines, they had no choice. Course they rated horsepower differently in those days too.

kind of funny you ask, since we specifically talked about this before. Anywho, I raced the car once, several times in one night. It was for fun, not like I actually thought I was going to set a record or something. oh and it wasn't lowered at the time.

84 vette- very detuned from the factor= still beat any CL

same goes for a Fox Body 5.0

HP isnt everything, these cars still make alot of torque.

torque really wont do you much when your car is made of steel and weighs as much as an elephant. but like i was saying there had to be something either wrong with the driver or the car cause i agree the corvette shouldve walked me. but it didnt. i was hoping to get a second shot to confirm that i beat him but he turned off. maybe ill see him again soon.

I agree with you there, the CL just doesn't compare when it comes to torque, at the strip, I was running all season tires but they only chirped, no spin at all.

I wasn't an idiot, like many others that go through the water box, with street tires. I'll also say, the vette I raced(twice) wasn't in the best shape, I think they were still dialing it in, to say the least. The fox bodies romped me, wasn't even a race. I didnt want to race either of those cars, but I didnt really get a choice, since there were 8 staging lanes, very random.

A Honda Fit raced a Lotus Esprit. freakin great....

not meaning to jack the thread, just kinda of doing it by accident.
