I think it kinda of retarded how Honda has these models locked in auto............. i know because of so manny models would have same HP........... but defiantly this strategy cant tag with MBW's and AUDI's my .02

Do any of you 2.2 or 2.3 guys wish you had a 3.0? I'm sure a lot of the 3.0 guys wouldn't mind having a stick and more performance stuff to choose from, but I'm glad with my 3.0.

Maybe my next mod will be getting the 3.0 from the NSX. Granted it's still an auto, but it's DOHC (258 HP)!
Well, I can dream, can't I! :P

I love the 3.0 engine, but regret not having a stick everyday. I couldnt handle not having the power though. Maybe a h22a stick, then Id take it.

I wanted a 5 speed and the 4 bangers are so reliable. So I am running the hell out of mine and if it holds up I will be happy. If it craps out, then I will have to get an H22A.

Loved the sound of the six, so thats why I bought it. Now I'm dealing with the milage issue.
I'm used to driving my RX7 with a 5 speed. I can't stand the automatic in my CL. It's driving me crazy. I never feel like I'm
in control of the car.

I love driving my 5spd...the gas mileage is good too! (especially with these high gas prices)
but I would love the extra power of the 6 cyl. though.

I love my 5spd...but I'll have to admit going for a ride in Got Rice's 3.0 with I/E and the venom...it felt like a totally different car. I'd like the extra power, and everyonce in a while my left foot gets sore from the clutch (damn ATL city driving), but overall I'm happier with the 4-banga

I was just driving my V6 right now, I got the car not that long ago and I never really messed with the gears. I always put it in D4 and forget about it. Well, I was shifting through the gears just if it was a stickshift, and now I'm convinced, the V6 was the way to go. I would leave it in first go to about 4,000 RPM and then let go of the gas pedal for a second and then stomp on it. I've never felt the car pull like that. This baby's got power!!! I know it's not good for my engine to drive like that, but I wanted to see what this car is really made of, and to tell you the truth, I love my car now more then ever ! ! !

My only criteria when I was searching for a car was that it be stick. Auto bores me to death and makes me ride the brakes due to the lack of engine braking. You have no control of the car, just press the gas and forget what's going on outside. With a 5spd you are constantly switching gears so that you are always in control and always paying attention. I could care less for the extra power unless I could control it with a clutch and a shifter. :P No greater feeling than dropping the bitch into 2nd at will, right into VTEC RPMs and hearing the sound of the intake. :wackit: :wackit:

I like my 5 speed. Would be nice to have more power but if I want 200hp as the base to begin modding I'll get the H22.
I may do that in the future if I don't get a project car. I'd choose that over a v6 5speed too. I just like the 4cyl engine idea.

I love my 5 speed, i feel in total control. Before buying my car i read about the cls and found out that some 3.0s were having trany problems. So I decided to get a stick instead.

I guess I'll contribute my 2¢. I bought a 3.0 because I always like POWER, got a 2.3 one time as a loaner and realized without a doubt I had made the right choice. The CL is not a sports car in any form, so I can deal with the lack of control a manual transmission gives you. When I want real power and control, I'll drive my other car!

its didnt matter to me which one I got, all I knew is that I wanted the body style in silver for a certain price, ended up a 3.0 at a great price and vary low price with rims and lowered came along, but of course I had to take off everything he did to redo it all myself, bigger rims and lower drop

For all you stick-shift 4-cylinder drivers that don't know.....
With the 3.0, it's not like you have no control, I know there still is a power-absorbing torque converter, but if I want to drop a gear to hear the VTEC , I can still do it. You guys forget that there is more then just Drive, there is D4 where it will drive all the way up to 4th gear, D3 where it will go all the way up to 3rd gear and not into 4th, and there is 2nd and 1rst where it will stay in whichever gear you select.

i know i'm not one to contribute to anything aside from something that really interests me.. but its as easy as this.. if you want to cruise around sundays.. in a luxury car.. why not have a v6?.. if your a performance enthusiast.. how the hell would you not pick a 4 cylinder stick? 1 you can drop an h22a in it in a days time.. and 2.. the only fast auto cars are the ones that have so much money in them they call them pro drag cars.. with one piece bodys.. and when your car does 7's or 8's.. i don't care what type of tranny you have

It sounds so much nicer hearing 6 than 4.. just wish the 6's had as many upgrades!!!! For all of you fellow 6ers who want a manual shift... the dealers will do a tranny swap for about $4000.00... Not worth it to me!

iceman, i picked a cl.. and i built a 10k dollar motor to put in it.. mainly becaust i didn't have the money to buy a car off the showroom floor that ran 10's...

Using that reasoning you would have been better off buying a Kia or Daewoo and putting a $10K engine in it. You'd have saved a bunch of cash, plus the car would be lighter to begin with.
My original point was that a true performance enthusiast would not pick a CL at all. There are better "starting points" out there.

heh, I drop from D4 to D3 to D2 when I exit the highway for the "engine breaking" (anyone know if this is bad?). Driving around town, I just leave it at D3 since I rarely go above 60 (even though you can run it to about 100 before the redline)...and D4 for highways.

iceman, mebbe you haven't seen some of the fastest street cars on the 1/4 mile.. most of them are hondas.. guess what the cl is.. its a honda.. honda's are perfect for dropping a better motor in.. and working it to all holy hell.. basically because theres a huge community behind it.. numerous companys make bolt in kits for larger engines for hondas.. a ton of ppl make performance parts for honda motors.. i couldn't even count them all.. and to the kia daewoo.. i spent 10k on my cl.. a daewoo cost about 2k less i believe... i wanted a car that was nice looking.. and seriously.. you can make the custom motor mounts for a h22a or hell.. an I12 motor to fit into a daewoo.... a true performance enthusiast.. makes something faster.. i really don't see the point in your argument.. if one person on this board.. just dropped the h22a in.. and blew by you.. you'd want that engine so fast.. so honestly... reread what your typing, its a honda.. honda's go fast with minor motivation

I apologize for my lack of ability to communicate, because you're clearly not understanding what I'm trying to say. Of course there is a huge market for tuned Japanese cars. It seems to me that they are mostly Civics, Integras, Supras, etc., in other words light sporty cars. I haven't seen TOO MANY Accords, Camrys, or Diamantes, for example.
More power to you for buying a classier car than most rice boys and for maxing it out performance-wise. You just made a different decision than I would have recommended, but that doesn't make it wrong.
Maybe our miscommunication comes from your sentiment that "if one person on this board.. just dropped the h22a in.. and blew by you.. you'd want that engine so fast..", and nothing could be further from the truth. I didn't buy my CL for it's high-performance racing capabilities, I bought it for it's nice balance of performance, comfort, and luxury. I bought my other car more for the raw power, and yes I know that your CL, when complete, will have cost a lot less and will still blow by me. I'm okay with that--I don't define my life by how many people I can beat in a race!

I totally agree with Iceman, the reason I chose the CL is for the balance of Luxury, performance and value.
The reason I didn't chose the 4 is because I didn't want a car that I had to put another 2k+ in mods to get it to run 0-60 in the same time as the the V6. Most if not all the people here with the
4 seem dissatisfied since they're always talking about major money mods and making the CL not a CL aka engine swap.

the m roadster and coupe are sleds.. i have a 2001 m coupe.. its supposed to run what 13.1? faster then the m roadster i believe due to weight issues.. with a tuned h22a turbo car.. i could have easily run 11's prolly 10's.. you said performance enthusiast.. why would a performance enthusiast want a slower car.. i don't get what your saying.. your right
