Upper Control Arm Bushing

I heard a loud clank coming out of my driveway earlier today and thought maybe the wheel well guard thing came undone again (those plastic screw clips suck) and it turned out it wasnt that. So when I looked up I saw that the upper control arm bushing was shot to hell. I went auto zone and pep boys and netiher of them have them in stock at the store but you can order them off their web site for $7. So I am going to go ahead and do that. My question is, how hard will it be to install that. Should I get a shop to do it, or could I probablyly do it. Do you need to compress the spring or can i just take the pin out of the nut and take the control arm off and put the new bushing on? If some1 could do a write-up on this install for me I would appreciate it greatly. I really would hate to pay very much in labor for a $7 part. Thanks in advance for your replys!

I believe you will need to take out the front suspension assembly... the shock and strut come out together as one piece...

then you can reach the upper control arm and take out the top bolt and then put on the new bushing I don't believe it is that hard since that is where the upper control arm camber kit is installed. So should be just unbolt and rebolt...

to remove suspension you need to undo the bolt I think it is 17mm at the base of the suspension assembly...you may need a thin screw driver so you can hammer the bolt out of the hole since it can get stuck in there... but keep the bolt in just loosen it... then under your hood you can see 3 14mm bolts which you can undo which is the top of the suspension assembly.

once removed you can take out the loosened 17mm bolt at the bottom.

be careful since the suspension assembly will just fall right down.

then you need to step on the rotor and push the hub downward so you can have enough room to remove the suspension assembly. If you are having trouble you might need to take off that fork at the bottom of the shock.

now you can reach the control arm and fix whatever you need to fix... if you can reach the control arm without taking off assembly then all the better.

and of course you know you needed to take the wheel of first.

it is all together held together by a cap on the top and the stock base at the bottom.

the upper control arm has two bushings. and to get to them all u need to do is unblto the 2 bolts/ then u can take off the 3 that hold the upper mount in place and take it out to work on it. or bring it to a shop to get pressed out and the new one in.
