Don't do that.

Find the wire on the wires going to ECU and clip it.

Or buy a used gauge cluster and when u want to sell the car... put that one in with low mileage preferably.

-If you ask me if I have that mod... my reply would be probably yes.
-Have any questions about the car... I'll try to help.
-Is my car fast? ... comon be real, even with a Prelude motor it still wouldn't be.

Or do what some of my friends do...hook up a switch to the odo. and then it will run on and off I think they had a problem with the speedo when they clipped the wire so they installed the switch.

or how about you don't commit fruad, rip off acura, and whoever might buy the car after you would sell it?
I'm actually surprised that a Moderator would support this ????

I agree. However, with the availability of all the different auto title checks available on the internet, it is very difficult to fake the mileage anyway. But the definately the best policy, is not to do it in the first place.

ummm, ok. lets talk about rip off...

when i purchased the car from a friend that was leasing the car, acura sent the title back to him with his name stamped on it. even though i sent the buyout in, his name was on the title. so i had to pay $1000 in taxes to get the title transfered to his name, then i had to pay $1000 in taxes again to get it transferred to my name. 2 time i had to pay taxes just because acura f*cks you by putting the leasee's name on the first title.

now what were you saying?

OK, so Acura has a screwed up system... messing with the odometer is illegal. Plus, all they have to do is connect your ECU to their computer and it keeps the mileage on there too. It's not as easy as it was back in the day, and not worth it....

I in no way support this! He asked a question and instead of letting him screw up the car, I let him know what someone else did when they wanted to same thing.

If he is going to do it, me saying NO won't stop him, so I just weigh in the possibilities. If I help, he doesn't screw up his car, if I don't he most likely will.

Buying used cars, you have to understand that most of the cars you buy has had something happen to them. Whether it be tampering with the odo. or a fender bender. How many times have you seen a used car for sale and it says... "All highway miles...babied the car...always parked in the garage...always took the car in to the dealer for maintanence." <- How much of this do you think is BS? Just me opinion..

The world isn't as honest as we would all like it to be..

Hey, that's my car!! Actually, it's all true except the dealer maintanence part. There's no way I'm paying the money they want for some of those services, I can do it myself. I did, of course, bring it in for the majors and I'm going to do the 60k a little early (before I sell the car).

Yeah I mean it's true that some people really do do these things for their cars, but are you really going to trust someone these days? Especially with all the scams going around.

I LOVE LISTENING TO ALL YOU HONEST PEOPLE TELLING ME THAT IS IT BAD TO CHEAT ACURA OR ANYONE ELSE BY DISCONNECTING THE ODOMETER CABLE... YOU ARE...

...THE SAME PEOPLE WITH ENGINE MODS IN YOUR SIGNATURES SO YOUR CAR WILL GO FASTER, SO YOU CAN RECKLESSLY RACE UP AND DOWN THE HIGHWAY UNTIL YOU FINALLY BEAT THAT IS300, OR THAT SOUPED UP ACCORD...

THE SAME PEOPLE THAT POSTED IN THE "TOP SPEED" THREAD SAYING THEY HAVE GONE 120 MPH, 125 MPH, OR 140 MPH. ALL OF WHICH TAKE PRIDE IN BREAKING THE TRAFFIC LAWS BY MAXING OUT THEIR REDLINES, AND DOUBLING THE SPEED LIMITS AT SPEEDS SO DAMN UNSAFE IT WOULD LITERALLY KILL THEM AND ANY OTHER INNOCENT BYSTANDER IF THEY HAD LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR FOR ONE SECOND.

I GUESS WHAT I AM DOING IS MUCH WORSE THAN RISKING THE LIVES OF OTHES SO I CAN PROVE MY MANHOOD TO A GUY THAT HAS A SLOWER CAR THAN I DO.... RIGHT?

Just voicing opinions..what you do is what you do. No one can stop you..I just don't want you to mess up your whole cluster..that is why I sugg. the switch. Also, I believe you said in the top speed post that you went 125?

yes i did say i went that fast, but it was on a closed road... where no one but myself would have been hurt. besides, it doesnt matter if i went 125, i'm making a statement about comitting odometer fraud againts dangering the lives of others. you are missing hte point. but this is my opinion also, and i respect everybody's opinion... but you have to admit, what i said brings up a good point about all these people trying to be good samaritans while at the same time are the ones ripping up the roads.

Damn, I guess I made out like a bandit when I broke the needle on my gas gauge while putting the indiglos on and had to buy a used cluster with 23,000 miles on it!!!

Very true...like i said..If you are going to do it, then do it..no one is going to stop you. Of course people are going to comment..it is in our human nature to voice our opinions.. I just really hope that you do it right because it would suck to disconnect the wrong one and not be able to put it back Good luck to ya!

If odometer (cluster) has been replaced, you are by law required to mark the original mileage by placing a sticker on the driver door indicating the original and new replaced mileade.

Do not ask me how the new mileage could be tracked, but same time, that sticker could potentially save your ass if you sell the car and someone finds out about the mileage tampering.

if u disconnect the speed sensor. ur tranny will get burned up. everything on the tranny operates off the speed sensor. so theres no reason to even try this unless u want to spend another $2000 rebuilding a tranny. if u want to anyways heres a link of my tranny i think theres a pic of the vss on there.its in green circle. http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/wil...&.dnm=5f39.jpg
