I would stick with a FULLY synthetic, not a blend. Mobil-1 is good. Use 5w-30, it is what Honda recommends for your car. It's good from -30 to +40 deg C. Which should be fine for most climates.
AMSoil is a full PAO synthetic with additives. I trust the tests that were ran by third parties, and AMSoil comes out on top.

I also get better gas mileage with it in. Someone else on the board reported the same.

I dont really care about which oils others use, but thought since there was very little info on the board about amsoil, i would throw my hat in.

I am planning on changing to Synthetic.
Can I just drain the old oil and top it with synthetic oil and a new filter or is there a procedure for the change-over.

Thanks!

Yes you can.

With oil that has long drain intervals like amsoil, they recommend an engine flush. It is not necassary, but if you do not do one, you should change that oil and oil filter quicker than the recommended 25k drain interval. Because residue and deposits from the old oil are in the engine, it could cause the new filter and oil to have a shorter lifespan. The next oil change after that should be peachy.

This is true whenever you switch over to any synthetic. As he said, the synthetic tends to dislodge buildup and crap leftover from the organic oil, and you are supposed to change your oil after like 1500 miles after first switching over to full synthetic.
