Type Of Oil???
I use Pennzoil 10-40
The reason I use it is because my job is pretty far from my house and i'm constantly
in stop and go traffic. Pennzoil is good ( and cheap ) for this type of punishment.

Meh.
I didn't know that but my car seems to respond to it pretty well.
However, now that you brought this to my attention I will be going for
the purple stuff.

You think Pennzoil is bad. My grandfathers mechanic came out of the shop with a glove full of crap and said "you use quaker state don't you?" Your better off with anything but quakerstate.
Valvoline 5-30 synthetic.
Used it in my Civic, RIP 304,000+ - sold it to a friend and he twisted the cam, then he took a hatchet to it, Integra, RIP 194,000+ - rear-ended and totaled. Now, I use it in the CL, 104,000+.
Great stuff that Valvoline/Mobile 1- synthetic oil, stay away from the Penn State oils.

The word is 10W30 protects your engine better than 5W30 if you do a lot of short trips around town where your engine has to go through the warm up cycle a lot because it's thicker until your engine is completely warmed up. This would be at the expense of fuel economy. I heard the only reason Ford came out with the 5W20 oil requirement for their engines was to improve the CAFE gas mileage of part of their fleet of cars by calling for piss-thin oil which was self-serving of them.
I use Castrol Syntec synthetic 10W30 blend but I'm not convinced it's any better than regular oil. I always have to top it up for some reason..
Also watch the oil change while you wait places which most people in here don't use, they don't leave enough time for all the sludge to come out of your engine, if there is any.
Next time I'm going to use either Mobil 1 or a non-cheapo 10W30. In Calgary winters if it gets really cold I'd rather have synthetic 10W30 instead of regular when the temperatures get to the point where I'm supposed to use 5W30.
Anybody on here use Amsoil? I don't understand why it costs so much more then Mobil 1, Amsoil being such an old product line.

If there's anything better out there let me know.

I am surprised that more people here do not use it. It is probably because most oil change places do not offer it, which is understandable considering their business.
I buy at a local dealer here and pay for service only at oil lube places.
Chevron synthetic is actually just as good. They all pass the same tests that gives them the SAE and API rating. What differs between them all, is the additives they put in their oil. Which gives them the higher price per quart.......

I would stick with a FULLY synthetic, not a blend. Mobil-1 is good. Use 5w-30, it is what Honda recommends for your car. It's good from -30 to +40 deg C. Which should be fine for most climates.
Oh, and why the hell would you want to wait over 3000 miles for an oil change? I do believe oil filters are good for only roughly that mileage....
