Hey man, not getting on your case for not turbocharging your own car. Do what makes you happy!

I have had three different boosted motors with no issues whatsoever.

BTW, that 2.2 looks pretty good. Nice work so far.

That engine bay in the pics on page 1 is crazy, I love it. Piping everywhere! Are you going home for vacations or anything when you can work on it some more? Best of luck with the rest of the tune...

He's got a 4 banger turbo Mustang that runs low 13's. He knows his shit. Anyways, good job man, PM if you want more info. Hope school is going well up in the Chuck.

Tough to say what the total cost is, I've been peicing together different new and used parts for about 2 years. I guess I've probably spent somewhere around $4000 or so. That might be a bit low and there's still some stuff that I need to buy.

Ya, I'm going home for 4 days next weekend but I'm not sure how much I'll get done. I think I'm going to pull the head and put in a new gasket with some ARP headstuds over christmas if I can. Thanks, I'm gonna need some luck with the tune

Sounds good, but the car still has quite a bit of work before it'll be on the road. As for your buddy, I'd be really surprized if he knew how to tune OBD1 honda's using Crome or ECtune. It's a pretty specific way of doing things and the software is quite a bit different than what domestics would tune with. Thanks anyway though and school up in the Chuck is a real bitch right now. Who would've thought 3rd year MecE would be hard?

I'm running a socketed P28 ecu. I bought the conversion harness from some guy on HMT If I remember.

tru tru, i was gonna go with the p28 but the place talked me out of it cuz it was more money. so i got a non-vtec ECU that in the end was programmed for VTEC with a H22 basemap. i decided not to use the p13 i was given either.

Nope, unfortunately she's not on the road yet. I actually haven't made much progress at all since going back to school in September. I did just pick up a used laptop and buy eCtune so when I get back home I'll have all the tools I need to tune it properly.

Update: I haven't had much time to work on it since I'm still away for school. I'm finishing up the semester right now and heading back home on the 24th.

The car is booked into the exhaust shop on the 26th. Driving it across town to the exhaust shop will be really sketchy since it's running open downpipe right now with no front cross beam. The downpipe is in the way of the cross beam so I'm getting it redone at the shop. I also have 3" stainless steel piping and a muffler that needs to be installed.

The engine management set-up I have is baller
I'm running a OBD1 P28 ecu that is hooked up to a Ostich 2.0 real time programmer and a Hulog datalogging cable. I also have an innovate LC-1 wideband oxygen sensor. I connect them all up to my laptop which is running eCtune (a new honda tuning program kinda like crome or hondata but better). When I get all the wiring and crap cleaned up it should just be 2 usb cables in my glove box that I can connect to whenever I want to tune.

With this set-up I should be able to tune everything exactly to my liking whenever I want. I'm still a bit of noob when it comes to tuning but I'm learning and I'll have lots of time on my hands this spring/summer to figure everything out.
I'll post up some pictures and keep you guys in the loop when I get back to work on it.

Also, I have a CEL 9 that just showed up the last few times I started it up. I think I'm going to replace the distributor and see if that gets rid of it. Should I pick up a new one from Honda or just go with a used one?

sounds like its progressing well!

I would rig up a carputer with touchscreen in the dash so you can tune whenever, wherever without the laptop

That's a cool idea but I've already got everything set-up to run off the laptop. I also like the fact that I can hook it up and datalog for a bit then look at the logs later to make changes without having to be in the car. Plus it would be a bitch to use the eCtune program on a touch screen.
I also have guages showing a/f, oil pressure, and boost so I'll have a decent idea of what's going on without the laptop

It runs pretty good, but I never got around to tuning it on a dyno. It's louder than I expected with the 3" exhaust (no cat or resonator), so I'm thinking about throwing a resonator in to tone it down a bit.

But the car is back in the garage as of about a month ago and I'm back at school without it. It probably won't see the road again until the start of May, and that might only be for a week or so because I'm taking off travelling for a few months. If I get around to it, I have a set of ARP head studs that I'll put in over the christmas break.

On a side note, my passenger window and my sunroof both stopped working at the end of August. At first I only noticed the window and figured it must be the regulator. But when I noticed the sunroof went too I got suspicious that it might be some sort of electrical problem. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet.... anyone have any suggestions?

looks good get up the work make sure you get to a dyno and get it tune proper. street tune is cool and fun to try, but all in all its not safe. you need a clear road with no traffic or distractions. as you can get away with part p/t tuning but at wot runs your pulling from 70-12+ maybe more there no time for mistakes. and you have to keep your eye on your air fuel to make sure you dont lean out and blow. and a few other things. but good luck

imho, road tune>dyno tune for a lot of reasons, but like hulk implies it's almost inconcievably dangerous to do it yourself. get someone who is careful that you trust to do the pulls while you work the laptop; better yet, switch positions with a good tuner. a safe and solid tune can easily be the best $ you spend on an f/i car.
