btw is there any lag?
It makes about 5psi by 3000rpm and hits the full 10 by 3500. The power curve feels pretty smooth and if im racing the only time im not at full boost is the begining of first.

I like this...I really thought there was no hope, and I wasn't gonna do a h22 swap, so this gives me hope.......for after my payments of courese
I think I'd keep mine low though, about 10psi.

yea well it is really tempting to turn it up, i started out saying i wasnt going over 6psi, then 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 which is max for the stock map sensor. over on honda-tech there is an f23 running 15 pounds as a daily driver and he has run up to 17 and another pushing 16psi. appearantly even our thin rods and weak ringlands can take it, the question is for how long. id rather stick to running my 8psi daily 10-11 track and have the motor last longer.

True that eventhough running mad boost would be fine but boost is no good with a dead motor.

Like what they say.. "You can't be too greedy when it comes to boost."

Can you upgrade the rods and ringlands to safely run more boost, or is there not a company that will do that for the f22b?

parts are easier to get for the f22, but again i have an f23. rods do not seem to be available and a set of pistons costs more than a used f23.

so can this be achieved in the f22 without the upgraded parts or is there a difference?

the F22 is better for boosting because it has lower compression, 8.8:1 i believe but im not positive. i think the rods are slightly shorter/stronger as well. the lower compression means you can run more boost without detonation. i dont know if you remeber niedejb but he ran about 13psi on his f22 without problems.

Thanks d98 I had never seen rods listed for the F23, that site has more honda internal components than any other one i've seen. I still dont think I would ever build this motor because:
F23 rods $689
F23 pistons $449
Entire F23 motor on ebay $250
Yea so I cant run 20 psi but those are mad expensive internals.

I dunno man, another $1100 and you'll have like another 100 hp.... that's almost like $10 per horse

well, if he cranks up the boost I mean.

I didn't really look at the site, but that's assuming they're also 8.5:1 CR as mentioned previously in this thread.

if there is one thing i have learned with turboing a motor (3 times for me) it is well worth it to build the motor...if anything think of the longevity of it....you can also just replace the pistons and get the rods shot peened for strength...your motor will last longer and handle more boost

in other words.. do it right the first time and build the motor. it'll save you time and money

Nah its pistons and rods $1100 + misc parts + labor + 3 bar map sensor + dyno tuning for higher boost + stronger clutch + valves + engine mounts etc. Not worth it to me.

Like you said earlier you can get a used F23 for cheap, maybe buy the engine, then the rods, then the pistons, all over time and swap it into setup you are currently running. It all depends on what you wanna gain..I think it's fine as is if you watch the boost.
