Trying to get the race pedal over the gas pedal

I have a 5 spd and I've had racing pedals for awhile now but the gas pedal doesn't want to fit on there right. The gas pedal has a huge bulge on the back of it. I thought putting longer screws on there would help but it didn't. It just made it so I can't depress the pedal all the way. I ended up just taking it off. Does anyone have any clever solutions for this problem?

I had the same problem getting the gas pedal to stay firmly.
I ended up sinking 1 matching screw directly through the bottom of the pedal.
That way I knew one part of the pedal was for sure secure and I could pinch the clamps arount the rest of the pedal really tight.
Hasn't loosened any yet, and don't think it will.
