Tranny Slippin
Sup guys...
I Just moved out to Bmore a few weeks ago, and ever since I got out here, my car's turned into a POS.
A few nights ago, my check engine light turns up, and then I find my tranny slippin almost every time i take it over 4 rpm.
What are my options regarding the tranny? I know the dealer will give me a hard time about my mods as well as rip me off. Anybody know what I can do and how much it'll run me? How much time do I got before it goes out on me?
Also, just want to know what could possibly be settin off my Check Engine Light. I have 77k right now. I don't know what's goin on wid my ride.
Maybe it's time to sell it and get a nice dependable COROLLA.

It came up as some transmission code and that GOOD mechanic told me to not worry bout it and come back when the light came back on.
Its probally your Transmission Computer shortening out...then goes ur tranny... 4 dayz later driving down the street it started acting real funny like not catchin and then like 10minutes later it would jus slip and rev. Weird thing is car wouldnt move i idled a block home then i would shut off the car. Restart the car and it would drive perfect for like 15 sec and then do it again... All and all I still dunno what went on but the guy told me the computer shortened out? Then they replaced the computer, 2 days later I get the car back the guys like good news the tranny fine just computer not gonna cost as much...He tells me the car is riding fine...10 minutes after i leave im making a U-turn in a big intersection REV REV REV no GO GO GO me PISSED PISSED PISSED
I take it back to the shop (tried) then ended up towing it back then 4 days later i got the car back w/ rebuilt tranny
1600.00 in the whole (aftermarket warranty paid for 1200 worth even thought i have drop and other VOID stuff) got lucky and its still not even close to the way it use to be?! Shifts hard as hell sometimes lags sumtimes slams into gears...whatever... they said 1 yr warranty on the work

Your sig says you have a 5-speed??
I would say that is your clutch, not the actual tranny. Manual trannies don't go out all that often.
Try this, put your car in second and let out the clutch w/ your foot on the brake, if the engine dies your clutch is fine, if it does not, it is toast.

i've had 2 trannies in my 98 3.0 and it's goin out again soon...i will for sure be sellin soon...3 trannies is too much!!!! Ofcoarse i'll be lookin for a lawyer for the lemon law!!!

how exactly does a slipping tranny feels like??? mine kinda hestiates when it's time to shift. and when it does shift, i get this lil jerk.
