it's pretty shitty, but even the 2nd gens have hit stupidly low marks, type S's are trading at auction for less then 14K
last i checked mine was around 10K I believe.

Now, go to a dealership and see what they offer. That number was totally off from what I got.
I didn't get crap for mine on a trade in.. Just did it anyway.. Didn't want the hassle of trying to sell it privately. You should get more if you do so. You figure, with the financing as low as it is, more people are buying new. So, the used car market at a dealership isn't very good.

i got a '98 2.3... 5 speed with leather, spoiler and 67,000mi. and trade in value is $6,750 (Buffalo) my same car in Tampa is worth $500 more... (kbb.com) must be because of weather conditions and the beating it has on cars up north... shitty

WOW MACE!
i wont try to be sarcastic, but....
your car is 7+ years old with almost 80,000 miles, its the base model, it's a first year edition, it's a manual, and its a four cylinder.....no leather, heated seats, bose(?) or homelink......
HMMM...considering that your car is still worth over 25% of original price, I'd say that's a pretty damn good value for your car!
Lexus leads the pack with resale value. a typical lexus with 35-40,000 miles at the 3 year mark will fetch 54-54.5% resale value from MSRP.
considering your car is over twice as old with twice the mileage, and is NO lexus (i.e.: we have plastics in engine bay), the fact that your resale value is half the 50-something percent comparatively to the lexus is a great value.
i know 5,000 some odd bucks might suck when you mighta bought it for 10 or 15 a few years ago, but sometimes it helps to compare it to other luxury models to see how they hold up as well.
you'll also find that, over the next 5-6 years, your value will hold very steady, as that hondas "bottom out" as a certain value after so many years and models and that the value they keep is an indicator of the value of reliable transportation.
