Towing capacity question

I want to know what’s the most a first-generation CL has pulled around & in and out of the water. I have a 1999 3.0 and I want to buy a Sea doo 18ft challenger jet boat with a dry weight of around 1850lbs. From what I know my car can support up to 750lbs tongue weight which is the weight that the towing ball carries the 750lbs includes weight in the car example people in the car and stuff in the trunk etc. Any advice would be helpful thanks!

but, if you buy a truck, don't buy a toolbox and spend over 200 bucks to paint it!

seriously, you gotta be retarded or a cheap bastard to tow something other than the mini-u-haul without a truck!

200lb tongue weight, 2000lbs gross is the MAX for the first gen CL.

You SHOULD NOT tow that boat with your car. 1850lbs dry plus 350lb trailer (at least, prob more with spare tire, etc) plus 21 gallons of fuel times 8lbs (168), plus at least 50lbs of other fluids and junk on the boat = 2418lbs.

accually regular gas only weighs 6.8 lbs per gallon. at 50-90 deg ambient outside temp.. (142.8lbs.) sorry im a nerd. but i agree that the cl could not pull that boat safley.

It wouldn't be 1850 cause that's the entire weight. It's the weight of the tongue you're supposed to weigh.

What are you talking about? The tongue weight should be 10% of the total with the proper trailer and loading of the boat. So the supposed tongue weight of the above boat that I calculated would be about 242lbs. The cars max is 200. Still a no-no.
