tire scraping with new shocks

errrr im pissed!!!

i got my shocks installed today and guess wat.. its too low.. =(..

its kinda my fault though, VXCL warned me but i got all greedy! hehe

setup: (3.0CL)
eibach prokit, koni/neuspeed yellows shocks

ok, so i was running on prokit no shocks for about a year.. and now that i have money, i got shocks.. the koni/neuspeed have 5 perch settings.. i dropped the front to the bottom.. down 2 notches.. and the rear down 1 notch. the drop looks like a neuspeed spring drop, b/c the front is lower than the back..

i feel that its too low.. when i take a U-turn or any hard turns, i hear scraping,.. is this normal?? does any one else have the same shock and spring set up as mine? keep in mind , my shocks are the koni/neuspeed shocks..

also.. they F-ed up my installation.. they didnt put the bump stops in.. =T.. .. another question.. i noticed whenever i hit a slightly hard bump, i hear this thing go splat!.. like my shock just bottomed out or something.. im scared .. any advice on that? or is that normal.. i heard it with my stock shocks, but not like this.. its much sharper..

also.. im scraping on every curb. and speed bump.. the plastic thing underneath our engines.. is that normal???

to get a perspective.. there is less than one finger of space clearance between wheel well and tire in the front.. and about 1 finger in the back..

i love it low and all.. but im also getting 3 degree off camber in the front, and about 2 degrees off in the back.. do i need camber kits for this too?? ingalls?

im pissed.. i need to spend ALOT more money now! =T

i know its alot of questions, and thank you all in ahead for the replies..

more than likely it is too low if its makin all that nose and scraping....
bcareful becuz hte more u bottom out the less time you'll have your tranny*knockknock*
also negative camber+ tires = uneven tire ware is expected, i'd get a camber kit if i were u asap...
howz the ride comfort? other then the scrapin & splatz....

MUCH better than the stock shocks, umm.. wish it was stiffer.. i drove a s2k and 350z.. i like the stiffness there.. maybe i didnt turn up the stiffness enuff? i'll check that in the morning..

how soon will my tires go bad?

im thinking about doing the cambers in a week or two.. month max..
do i need both front and back?

i think im gonna higher the front end back to normal or 1 notch up.. mmmm
thanx for the quick reply.. im still lookin for other input, thanks fellas!

Crank up the stiffness all the way, and take some pics of the ride height, it can't be that low. Most likely the inner tire is rubbing because of the negative camber.

definately crank up the stiffness. it'll help keep you from bottoming out. and they are supposed to cut your bump stops.

they are prokits!! *sigh..

and the stiffness is at the highest level..

the stiffness adjustor is on the top of these shocks.. so i cant adjust them externally..

umm.. yeah.. they didnt install the bumpstops at all.. =T.. i think i should go back and tellthem to do it, but thats gonna be another day down the drain...

i'll take care of that when i get a camber kit installed.. so i can do it all at once..

i dont have a digital camera yet, so i cant really post pics...
imagine 1 finger for the back and pretty much no fingers for the front.. for the wheel gap..

acura1983 said taht my tranny will have problems when i bottom out? how does that work? is it because the tires hit the wheel well and instantly slow the wheels, causing friction to the tranny?

If its too low then why don't you move the front up a notch if theres 5 perch settings?

thats the plan as of the moment..

i need to survive a week without fucking up anything ...

i cant do anything during the week, b/c of work..

im guessing the camber will be better with it higher too.. but still bad enough to affect my tire wear im sure..

ingalls?? wicked tuning ?? revo technica? any of these camber kits any good??

im thinking the revo ones, because they are 135 for both front and back, only bad thing is that they only correct up to 1.75.. leaving me still with 1 degree off..

any suggestions?

I think he means that when you bottum out your doing just that. the bottum of your car sometimes hits the pavement. I'm sure that's not good. your probably throwing off sincros or gears and shit. not an automatic tranny expert.

i have stock shocks and springs and in the back of my car i noticed the clearance between the tire and stabilizer bar on the inside of my tire is less than an inch pretty much.. i can't fit my finger between. is that normal?

first you need to get the bumpstops on their....you're messing up your shocks

the stiffness adjustor is on the top of these shocks.. so i cant adjust them externally..
[QUOTE]

you mean u CAN adjust them externally right? just making sure...

take off ur front tires and see which parts of it are scraping...it could be your camber like people said

i'm assuming you got an allignment already?

as for the rear camber, not sure if the washer trick will work on your car or not

front camber you should look at ingalls or spc...they both make kits that can adjust up to 3-4 degrees

it depends which one you getting...ingalls front should go for $100-150...never shopped for a camber kit so i wouldn't know

spc is around the same price as ingalls if not slightly more expensive

it also depends which type your getting as well
