tire "pimple"

what up guys...long time no talk...i hope all is well...

So my G/F has been driving my CL since i got the TL in December. I just noticed these "pimples"on her front two tires yesterday. Both driver side and passenger side has one each. Tires are1.5 years old with maybe 15,000 miles on them, probably not much. Tire guy at Sam's said that this happens when hitting pothole's really hard (which probably happened with the roads around here) and that the tires will eventually burst at these points. See pictures and please let me know you thoughts!! i dont want purchase new tires! She only drives the CL like 8 miles a day to work all city streets no highways...

should i rotate the front tires to the back? would that minimize the potential tire hazards with these "pimples"?? anything else i could do?

as always your help is greatly appreciated!

get rid of the tire...

thats usually caused if you run into the curb or hit a hard pothole/raised manhole/sharp hard object...

I would replace the bubbled tires ASAP. You don't want them to burst while driving.

The only solutions to a tire with compromised sidewall integrity is to replace the tire or not drive the car. Guy at work pulled his car around back the other day and I about had a heart attack. He'd been driving on a half-flat bald and bubbled-sidewall tire with a nail in it for 2 WEEKS! I screamed at him and told him to immediately go buy new tires, that shit is dangerous and is not only a hazard to yourself, but a hazard to other drivers when you have the blowout.

You broke a cord in the sidewall. This isn't repairable. You need to replace both tires ASAP.

At least rotate them to the back. Then change them as soon as you can. Alot less stress in the back of the car but I wouldnt keep them very long.

change now, personally I wouldn't drive on them at all if I had the money to replace it. That is very dangerous.

I unknowingly drove around with a delaminating tire. Damn near died when I found out. Especially since I traveled at rather high speeds often.

Those are the two biggest things to watch out for bulges and delamination. Make sure to check your tire code for the manufacturing date... especially when buying. If the tire is more than 6 yrs old it's no good.

here's a good page on tire dates, it's a bit confusing

please change them soon, and when you take them in or take them off, please deflate them if you are moving them/storing in the trunk etc...
there was a story from one of the other forums i'm on, that a couple had a bubbled tire, so they took it off and put the spare on. Being that there wasn't enough room in the trunk for the original bubbled tire and wheel, the passenger held it on her lap while they drove to the tire shop. On the way there the tire exploded, the passenger (his wife) died a few days later in the hospital from her injuries, and the husband had injuries aswell, but did survive... Please do not take this lightly... here is the link to the news story http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/s...st/8600833.stm
used tires are not expensive at all if you want to go through that route, just search in your phonebook for businesses that carry them

That's no pimple. That is a tumor. Would you want to keep a tumor around?

Had this happen to my CL a year or 2 ago, put a dummy tire on her and drove her to a used tire place.. 20$ later i replaced both of the front tires just to be safe, the used tires were in great shape.. go swap out that tire for a used one usually you can get them for 10$ no excuse to not get a new one put on.
