Dont know what it costs for the 3.0. My 97 is listed as needed to be changed at 90K. I had mine done a while back and they prompted me to change the water pump while they were in there. They were nice enough to slap on my timing gear as well for about $350 if I remember right.

You should check your owners manual. It tells you when to change it. It's around the same time when you change the spark plugs. Well at least for the 3.0's. I dont know about the 2.2 or 2.3 On the 3.0's the spark plugs last for like 100k miles but I think you change the timing belt around 90k. Just check with the manual. :p

Usually I go by the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" motto. As for a timing belt, do yourself a favor, and don't do that. Interference engine, meaning timing belt breaks, valves get banged up, you have a junk motor. The intervals Honda recommends are 90k miles or 6 years for the timing belts I believe for say a 97, 100k for a newer one.

Yeah, exceeding the factory recommended timing belt replacement interval is definitely not a good idea.
However, changing it early isn't really necessary unless it's visibly worn or damaged in some way.
