Throttle bypass hose?

On my ’98 2.3CL….

My hose going into my throttle body was just replaced because of this:

The hose inlet underneath was VERY corroded and part of it broke off in the hose. It’s still sealing with a hose clamp but I’d rather fix it before it becomes a headache..

So it looks like my options are to replace that hose inlet or bypass as described here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-03...spagenameZWDVW

Of course I would just get my own hose and not pay 12 bucks for this kit…

Does this have any ill effects on the motor? Also if replacing that hose inlet would be best what is it called and where is a good place to buy it?

My other thought,,, since I assume that the coolant going into the throttle body is something geared toward cold weather start ups,,,, is to by pass for now and look wait for a cheap throttle body or part on ebay. Then just make sure I get it re-attached before the NJ winter hits…

What do you think?

I just called over to Montclair Honda (since they are a sponsor and near me)… Guy told me is looks like that “hose input” is part of the complete throttle body on his diagrams… mmmmm???

OK guys,, I’ve confirmed that that input housing is NOT available separate part#. So needless to say I’m not thrilled about the idea of paying $288 for a complete throttle body assembly. So I think the game plan is to bypass until I can find a throttle body on ebay or a junk yard… Just need confirmation that I’ll be ok bypassing this puppy…

Just curious: When was the last time the coolant was changed and what type was used.

That looks most unusual
Thanks Smoky
