thinking of buying a new car

1.) Full option 5spd '05 Scion TC (new)
or
2.) Full option 6spd '01 Audi S4 (with 48,000 miles)
what do u guyz think i should get? i always wanted a turbo car.. but my parents say i should stick with brand new.. will the S4 have alot of problems?
anywho.. any feed back will be great! u could even dawg on me saying the power difference isnt even comparable.. haha.. im pretty sure its not.. but u guyz probably have a lot more experience in buying cars then i do.. and also.. ive never really had a turbo car in the family.. so i dont know how it will last in the long run...
gotta get back to school now guyz! ill check back in tomorrow! feed back plz!!

The TC is ok kind of funky looking though
The S4 had turbo problems the same way the 3.0 has tran problems, I would check and make sure that S4 didn't blow his twin turbos first. That is a bad ass ride though, but once I heard about shotty 6k turbo that would need replacement I said hellz no.

Scion is a good car, the TC is a little funny looking, and no where near as luxary oriented as the s4 or the CL. I think if you buy the TC, you are going to spend a lot of $$$ to make it as nice as the s4 or CL, maybe you should look at a TSX, TL or RSX.

all the way. Scion's are :ghey: the a4 is pimp if in good condition. There's a chick at my work selling a 1 year used a4 for 28 g'z.
Personally I would look at the tsx, TL and RSX like aj suggested, probably used the price range you're talking, but I think we all agree, acura's are
i like the tc's...with rims, a drop, and tint they look pretty tight.
s4's on the other hand, are totally different animals. they have the potential to be monsters on the street (if the turbo's don't blow). personally, i'd get a CERTIFIED s4...that way at least you'll have a 100k warranty to fall back on in case you do get crazy and blow that beesh up

Get the Scion if you want basically a sexy Corolla coupe. It's the "safe" choice. Get the S4 if you want more of an enthusiasts car.
I agree with the rest that you should look into getting a TSX or RSX. I would add that if reliability is a chief concern of your parents then get a certified used TSX/RSX from an Acura dealer.
Certified cars cost on average about $1000 more, but it's well worth it in my opinion.

Why limit urself to only 2 options?!? How about a 2003 CL-s 6speed? im a CL-aholic so i would naturally say get that. BUt between the 2; S4, and maintain the crap out of it, the TC is cheap for a reason.

I was toying around with the idea of a new/lightly used Scion xB or tC, even though I could barely afford it. Then I realized if I was spending $15k on a car, I could get a turbo 300zx...not to mention I'd be broke.....so I scrapped that idea.

Legendary, i think this is a comparison between a Toyota and an Audi, this is a no brainer. Another thing is u always get better deals when u buy cars used, sure u pay more $$ for maintanance but u save $8,000 upfront, and u get a nicer car. Go team!
That's a lot more money than I had at your age... but anyway
I would never buy a used Audi or Volkswagen. They're expensive to buy, the parts are a lot of money as well and the reliability is never that of Japanese cars.
When I got the CL, I knew it was out of warranty but had an excellent reliablity record which is generally one of the best deals in cars.
I would take a used RSX. Scion is an economy car (but more fun than a Corolla), everything would seem cheapo after driving a CL. A lot of cars are not up to the quality standard of Accord/CL, at any price.

Legendary, if you decide to sell your car PM and I'll buy your ww front lip from you.
BTW - I've been thinking of getting a new car as well...maybe a new RSX, TSX, or TL.
I'll see how things shape up later this year.

Audi's are tight but they have the shittiest maintence ever. . . and iono about interior difference of A4 and S4. . the seats doesn't feel as great as the cL = ) IMO!
i'd save the money and get a 300z TT = ) or try to find an All-Trac!
thinking of selling the CL but can't. . iono why -_-''

I would really like to buy an RL. I am not all about going fast. I love my CL because it is a pleasent ballance between sport and luxary, but if I can make enough cash, I'm gonna keep the CL for mods and buy an RL or a TL. Oh the big wish would be ASPEC RL, but at 60,000 I don't think that will happen. Besides, if I did spend that much cash on a car, I would kill the first jerk to hit it with their door in the parking lot.
sweet! thanx for the comments guyz! i think ill look into the S4 then.. but as most of u mentioned.. the TSX, RSX is still out of my price rance.. the S4 and the TC where 20K.. i found used RSX's and TSX's at that price.. but they where high mileage for '04-'05's..
im still deciding on buying the car.. so i wont be parting the CL out any time soon.. but when i do ill tell u guyz.. 3 guyz already called dibz on my lip.. hahhaa.. dang leeches! haha.. j/p
thanx for the feedback guyz!
o.. the S4 was yellow too.. ill probably wait this out .. see what happens w/ money situations in a few months

Oh shit..The yellow S4 is hot , there is one right around the corner from my house. I drool everytime I see it, but remember ask for maintenance records, carfax the whole nine I'm sure after 20K you don't want to replace a 6K turbo.
The two cars aren't even really comparable since they are not in the same class. On the one hand, you've got a luxury sports sedan, on the other, a fast sport compact econobox.
Buying brand new is always good. If you buy used, watch out for VW/Audi. They are not the most reliable cars, and parts are very expensive. For example, you cannot just order a ball joint for an S4, you have to order the entire assembly which is 1000$. Yep. I know. It's insane.
With that said, the S4 is the superior car, much more appealing to the enthusiast... but it has its downsides.
Your best bet is to sign up to an S4 forum and ask about known issues. If you do decide to buy the S4, ask to take it to an Audi dealer/mechanic in order to see if you have any of the known issues, or to have him point out other stuff wrong with the car. If the seller refuses, there's a reason for that, and you should turn your back and run away!
Good luck!

That's the worst one!

That is so wrong
