Does anyone know the effective diameter of the stock sway bars on our car?

No, but you can measure them in a heartbeat with a dial caliper, they sell for anywhere between $15-25 for a cheap set. go to pep boys or a full service gun store, buy a set then return them when your done

the back one looks like about 5/8 of an inch, front one a little bigger.
