I have a 99 Acura CL3.0 with 57,000 miles. 2 months ago, my car got suck in park. I forced it out so I could get out of the middle of the street. After that, I couldn't start it unless it was in neutral, and the brake lights didn't work. I took it to the dealership and they said it was because I had blown a fuse, and replaced the fuse and fixed the pin I bent in proces of trying to move my car.

I argued with them at the time telling them they fixed the symptoms, not the problems. But the only thing I got was the service for free, rather than a good feeling that they fixed the car.

2 weeks ago, it happened again. This time I was dropping off luggage in front of an airport and had no choice but to force the car out of park again. This time, I drove it for one and a hlaf weeks by starting it in neutral and driving with no brake lights. Then it seemed to get stuck again, and after forcing it this time it wouldn't start in neutral at all. I had to get it towed to the shop.

I am not happy with the answers the dealership is giving me (they are saying battery cable now) and am curious if anyone has ever had any similar problems and can offer any advice. For such a supposedly reliable car, I seem to be having lots of problems.

 

hm.. i'm not sure if this is the same.. but on my car... i couldnt get it out of park-- there was something wrong with the shifter.. i took it into the dealership 4 times to get it fixed

the first time they temporarily fixed it.. the 2nd time, they temporarily fixed it.. the third time they put the shif knob in backwards..?? dunno how they missed that...

i dont even remember how i got it to the dealer.. they might have towed it there...
use the shift unlock and put it in neutral and had it towed to the dealer i think...

dunno if this helped??.. it was afterall something in the shifting.. they replaced a lot of what has to do with the shifting-- i forgot exactly what :-/
