Strange noise.
My car is making a high pitched-metal on metal(i think)-whistling type of sound.
It only occurs while moving. Initially started as something that I faintly heard for a fraction of a second and in about 2-3 weeks has turned into something that sometimes lasts up to 30 seconds at a time even at high speeds.
Two suggestions i've got from mechanics who've heard this.
First guy said it is the break sensor.
- It does get louder when I apply breaks if the sound is already present
- Simply applying breaks doesn't 'cause' the sound though
Other guy said it could be breaks or bearings(axle)
- In the initial stages, it would occur more when I was vearing to the left moreso than going straight or right(now it just occurs)
- He said its probably not break sensor because it would most likely be a constant sound if it was the sensor rather than going in and out.
Anyone ever experience this? what was it?
If not, what does it sound like it could be?
Could it be related to the recall on something related to the bearing that I remember reading about?
(hopefully those are enough details)
What should I do?
