it seems towards the end of a cd, especially a cd-r, my stock cd player (98 3.0) starts to skip or frequently go in and out. Its even worse if my car is not warmed up in these cold new england months.
Does anybody know what this might be or have a remedy????

Try clean the lazer with a lazer lens cleaner. You can buy it wherever they sell cd's or computers.
