Stock Bose requires external amp?

I installed a stock Bose unit in my 97 CL but the volume is very low, even on maximum. Is there an external amp required for the stock radio?

Yep stock bose unit has an external amp located in the trunk next to the jack.

I sold my Acura/Bose headunit on eBay, and they dude returned it because he didn't have an amp!
