Stiffer springs for function form type I?

I was looking to get some stiffer springs for my function form coilovers as it seems whenever i bottom out its from coming down after a big bump in the road and stiffer springs would help this. I just dont know where to get them. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I know what you mean. I still haven't fully played around with the coilovers (Haven't really had much time) but yeah, Will stiffer springs delete this problem? I noticed mine are bouncy in the front, stiff as fuck in the back and I'm still running the F2 springs.

Mine were bouncy when i first put them in too, this unforutunetly is due to the upper control arm touching the inner fender well/subframe. theres no way to fix this except to cut holes there, which is what i ended up doing, of course after spending $300 to get the skunk2 upper arms which only made the problem worse

dont know if anyone else might get some use out of this, but i did find a company that sells completely custom springs in any spring rate and length

http://www.hypercoils.com/

or

http://www.swiftsprings.com/

i think im gonna get a pair of the hyperco's but unsure of spring rate. I was thinking about 15kg/in, hopefully it wont make my car super bouncy but i guess we'll see.

let me know if you think this a terrible idea please, ahha

i actually have 12 and 8 and its way too soft, i go over a bump and then the springs compress too much and i bottom out. I agree 15 is probably too much, but i definitely need it stiffer

the stock one is best, but i read somewhere the skunk2 kit would solve my problem, but it only made it worse because my car is so low. plus i couldnt fix the camber at all, when it was adjusted to as positive as it could go, i was still sitting at -5 in the front

i got mine from here, and they say 12kg and 6kg

http://functionnform.com/shop/ff-typ...1994-1997.html

it wasnt the camber that i was necessarily worried about, but it made my car, handle like crap. on the freeway it was very squirrelly and had something similar to bump steer. idk, i got a different kit and it handles much better so im happy

Look into custom bigger valving in the shocks...

If you want stiffer springs (although a stiffer shock would be what prevents the "bottoming out") I'd call them up and ask for custom spring rates.

The shocks are what controls bound and rebound.

well maybe theyre wrong, cause they sure as hell dont feel that stiff, maybe theyre labeled wrong or something (which would make more sense) ill call up form and function and ask about the current springs as well as revalving, but at some point, it seems like a lot of effort for $700 coils, and maybe i should sell them and get the 2.5's, which have adjustable dampening and custom spring rates

i just got one of the ebay camber bolt kits. with it i could correct the camber to about -1, which from -5, made it handle a whole lot different. it really helped the feeling i had when i went into a corner, that i had to force it to go where i wanted the car to go. now, it takes turns smoother and "floats" less on the freeway.

all of this may not even matter now though, as it seems my tranny is on its last leg

haha, I heard function form isn't that amazing after all. I got a set of d2's =) that i want to get rid of they are adjustable. and if you want even stiffer on mine d2's sells springs for 150 shipped to your door custom rates. Miiike went from d2 to function form and he said they suck. I wanted to change to stiffer springs just for a better ride but i change my mind on my route for suspension.

But i think you just get lucky on some setup. For some people they don't respond the same to the setup

If youre selling them, I might be interested, but my transmission is worrying me, so ill probably have to put money into a rebuild for that or I might just sell the whole car

and yeah I completely agree. I guess I just didnt quite get it right for my coilovers, but what can you do. they do go extremely low though, ill give them that (even if they feel like crap if theyre about 1/4in lower than I have them set now, hahah)

you can always crank the coils tight to make them stiffer.
