STi, here's I come... bye bye CL

I had someone test drive my CL for the first time yesterday. He loved it and is going to give a deposit sometime this week. To be honest, I am going to miss the CL. It was my first car and I babied it. Since I have never sold a car before, I have a few questions: Do I have to create some kind of a written contract that the car is sold as is? Being that it is modified, I dont want him to come back to me if something breaks or whatever. Any good resources? I am in Orlando FL. I've already looked at kbb, edmunds, and autotrader for selling tips.

I am starting to hunt for a 05 sti... white on gold.

seems like im not the only one jumpin ship to a scuby. im goin for the legacy gt limited though. and im leaning towards white myself. not buyin in until jan-feb the earliest or during the summer. i would really like to confirm if they will bring the sti version of the legacy to the us for 06.

good luck bro. only thing that sux if ull have to buy premium gas and your milage will be down to 20mpg instead of 30. thats the only thing in mot lookin foward to but i guess the extra 100-150 hp and 100 more tq will make up for it.

peace

yea, if they brought over the legacy sti, id be all over that in a heartbeat. personally i think the front of the legacy looks better than the sti. i like the rear of the imprezas tho. word has it that the 06 might be a body change... but i dont wanna wait til next year for that. yea, gas is gonna be a pain. extra 100-150 hp? thought the gt was 250? any 1/4 times on it yet?

he cant come back to you for anything unless he can prove u knew something was wrong before you sold it. if everything is fine then you have no probs.

when me and my wife sold her accord, we wrote up something short, basically saying car is sold as is, no warantee implied, blazay blah, and got it notarized. that was it, we signed, and had the buyer sign and that was that.

DUDE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

What price is he buying it for? I really wanted to check it out before you sold it. He is giving you a deposit?

I'll buy cash if I can just see the thing IN PERSON.

Gimme a call when you get off work I want to know more details.

actually insurance isnt that bad. a few hundred more than what i'm paying now. plus if you're 25, it's pretty ok. right now, i'd just rather have a fast car from stock... that has a warrantee. hehe...

Just make damn sure you have copies of any documents exchanged... bill of sale, title, etc. As a private seller you are not expected to warrant the car.. let the potential purchaser take it to his mechanic for a once-over. Then it is buyer beware... they should know what they are getting at that point.

good luck bro

Is that 24K plus your car?
Or total 24K?

I like the S4 better than the A6.

As a couple people have stated, draw up a bill of sale (I'm sure the Internet has samples), stating that the car is sold AS IS, that no warranty is offered, implicitly or explicitly, and that the sale is final. Both (all) parties should sign and date the bill of sale. Keep a copy for yourself, and give the original to the buyer. I don't think notarizing is necessary, but it certainly will not hurt.

Most feel that will never happen. I'm planning on getting mine end of dec. I'll keep asking the dealers whats going on. insurance is going to be $500 less a year for the legacy gt vs my cl. im sure an sti version will be more.
