Stereo/amp remote source?

Hi there. I have a 97 CL that I've only had barely a week and a half. I've searched for this, but have come up blank. I've added a sub to the stock system easy enough with a line level RCA input, and powered it up from the battery with killer sound as a result. I've installed a 12" Rockford Fosgate sub with a Fosgate 500.2 amp, and all is well. The only problem is, I've been looking for a switched power for the remote to splice into. and this is my last catch on the install. I've checked the obvious, even tore the center console apart following some directions on here, but hit a dead end when it called for some screws that did not exist. I'm just looking for anthing that's easy access with switched power really. Any recommendations? I'm not sure how to remove the fuse box, and I tried getting at the cigarette lighter from the console but no luck. Any precise directions would be appreciated. I'm good with a wrench, and have installed many many systems, but I just don't have the time at the moment to tear this car completely apart while trying to figure this out. Please help!

well you can try this:

tap into the cigarette lighter, or even the battery straight up. Of course you're thinking "then it will be on 24/7"....but inbetween the battery and amp, install a switch. Sure you have to switch it everytime....but taht works.

Or, on the harness, tap into the "RED" wire i believe...i think thats a +12v power source. Plus that wire will turn on when the deck turns on, so it works.

This is my best guess....i know the switch one will work, but you may forget the switch one time and the car battery will die

You can tap into the blue wire which comes out of the radio harness. That is the remote for the stock amp.

I wasn't at Stereo Warehouse, sorry. I'm down in Kent, although I used to live up in N. Seattle by there. I'd like to be able to get to the back of the deck, but I can't seem too. The instructions I found on this board lead me up to the point of removing the console adn the section around the auto shifter which it says is connected to the trim around the stereo, but has a screw behind the ashtray. Only, there is no screw there.

HTML Code:
http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Honda/PDF/466037.pdf
So I got in there, but no dice and it was getting dark out. Couldn't access the cig lighter either, although I could barely touch the back of it through the ashtray opening. So, is there an alternate way of getting at the stereo and/or cig lighter, or another place to tap in? Thanks for the switch deal, but that's not happening. So any other thoughts?

There are two screws in the center armrest under the cd holder thing. There are three screws under the drink holder (it pulls out)

Lift the center console out

Then there are two screws that hold down the wood trim.

Remove the chrome trim ring around the shifter, pulls out no screws.

THere is one screw behind the ash tray. remove.

The rest of the console is held in by clips. Start at the bottom and CAREFULLY pull up. You should get the bottom to pull up than work your way to the top. Then disconnect all the switches and you will have full access to the stereo/ cig lighter

Sorry, but read my last post. There are no screws behind the ashtray. I printed pics which show this, and mine looks exactly the same EXCEPT... where the screw should be on the pics, it is solid plastic. There is a round nub where the screw would be, but its solid. I've searched everywhere else I could think of, but nothing. When trying to pull on the dash trim to pop loose and clips, the whole thing (including stereo, etc.) comes up but does not give way and separate. Do I have a mutant CL or something?

Anybody? (mini-bump) I've got it all run except for a remote source, so I mean anything at all as long as its switched. But the cig lighter and stereo refuse to cooperate. Sorry for the nooB-ish stuff, but I've only had this car for barely 2 weeks, and the Ms. drives it, so I get it for a bit here and there on the weekend to mess with things till she wants it back.

Dustbuster had a wiring diagram here http://public.fotki.com/dustbuster4/...ampwiring.html and remote power seems to be yellow with a white stripe just before the amp to turn it on.

Hope that helps.

Ok, to finish this up, I took it all apart again Sat, and there is no screw directly behind the ashtray. But squeezing my hand in the hole, down, and behind the rear or the ashtray hole, there is a screw driving in from the front toward the back. Couldn't get at it to save my life, reaching in with a stubby screwdriver or trying to go from the side or other angles, so I ended up just using a fuse tap and tapping in power for the remote from the radio fuse. Works fine, no feedback or anything, so its done and I'm moving on.
