Steering Wheel Remote?

Hey Everyone,
My 97' 3.0 only has controls for the crusecontrol, as most of you probably do too. My question is, did they make the 98' - 99' CL's with controls to the stereo on the steeringwheel? I'd like to so how put a control for the radio (volume, etc.) just like the cruse control on the right side of the wheel....did Acura CL's in 98' -99' offer this? Has anyone installed their own? Please help me out if you can... Thanks

I still have the OEM headunit....did they offer a remote on the wheel for the 98 and 99's? Can it be out on a 97 3.0?

My head unit came with a remote that can be mounted on the right side of the steering column. I dunno if there is anything else like it for OEM heads. I've got the sony xplode, works alrite.

All im saying is if you look on the 97 CL steering wheel..there is controls for the cruse control on the right side...im wanting to mirror that same remote/plastic peice with the 2 buttons- to the left side and hook up the buttons to the OEM head unit. Was that a factory option on the 98 - 99 CL's? Can it be done for the 97 CL's?

It was standard on the 98-99 CL's and im sure you can do it on the 97 but it will involve some work and you have to figure out how to mount it on the 97 wheel unless you buy the 98-99's with the controls.

Oh there is a way to keep the controls with an aftermarket headunit. I forget what its called but its like 30 bucks

Yeah Ive got one and as a suggestion, I would look for a used steering wheel with the controls already on them. Good luck. Also once you get the plastic housing with two buttons. Open it up and clean it with some rubbing alcohol or something that evaporates quickly (do not use water or windex or itll never work again), mine started messing up because moisture was collecting in the circuits. I think it was sweat and armor all, but whatever it was made the controls do the opposite function hit the volume up button made the channel change, hitting the channel change did nothing, and hitting the volume down button turned it up.

yea, you can add a 98-99 steering wheel... but there is no wirring in place through the steering wheel for the controls... although it is only one wire, so it may not be a problem. The 97 deck does not have an input for the steering wheel controls though... so you'd also need a 98-99 acura deck.

The controls from a legend steering wheel fit the 97 wheel I do believe, but do not match the cruise control buttons, so you'd need the audio and cruise button clusters so they match each other.

I wouldnt worry about them I hardly use mine and the buttons hardly work right, and you can always look at it from the standpoint that your not adding excess weight to your car right

no way man, I live by those little buttons, mine work well luckily, you can sit back, wayyy baaack, and cruise through as many CDs as you want (with the 12 CD changer & remote) or skip through radio stations when the ads come on hehe

But it seems like a real pain to get those twiddlys if you don't already have them
and the weight those damn things add to the steering makes executing hard rights real tough at times

Or you can just get an aftermarket headunit with a remote and sit in the back seat and control the stereo.

just get a aftermarket Head Unit that comes w/ remote. if you want the safety of having both hands on the steering wheel at the 10-2 position, which every good drivers do, just duct tape the remote to the steering wheel. hehe...

by the time you go through the whole shit of getting a 98-99 head unit, a new steering wheel, run the fucking wire, test that bitch out hoping it won't blow or ruin something else. might al well get a kick ass system.

spoken like a true connoisseur of the back seat

you could always duct tape the remote to your brain and wire it up to work automatically with mental commands. I think its probably equal hassle to fix up a 98-99 head unit and you'd have something A1 original

I say go for it Acura3.0CL
