I want to get an MDX wheel but i have a slight problem, i have a '97 with the horn buttons on the wheel part not the whole center airbag piece. Is there anyway i could remove the buttons and put them on the new wheel or would that be a pain in the neck and not worth it? TIA

I guess I'm missing something. If you buy and MDX wheel and the horn works by pressing on the airbag cover, why wouldn't you just connect your horn wiring that used to go to the horn buttons on the wheel spokes to the horn wiring to the airbag? I guess I'd have to see them both but I'm sure you can make it work. I have a 97 also, does the airbag portion of our wheel fit the MDX wheel?

 

I am only buying the steering ring which doesnt include the airbag. The complete wheel with airbag is super expensive and i dont need a new bag

 

So our bag fits the MDX wheel?
But our wheel has the horn buttons on the spokes and the MDX uses the bag cover to honk the horn?
Hmmm....got to be able to make it work somehow.........

 

well since we have the other wheel question up at the top i figured i would bump this. Are the air bags on the 97 and 99s the same size or are the 97 smaller because of the horn buttons (sorry it sounds confusing but if i were to relocate the horn or remove it would the MDX wheel fit ) TIA
