steering problem
hi all
i just bought a 97 2.2cl, has only 48k miles on it. i'm having a problem with the steering...the car does not drift at all, but if i hold the steering wheel straight, the car goes off to the left. my mechanic checked the alignment, but that's all fine, and he rotated the front and rear drivers side tires (which are only 5 months old btw). is it possible that the steering wheel and steering column are not calibrated/centered correctly? or what else could it be?

If your steering is slightly off, the alignment guys may be too lazy to straighten it for you. Their alignment machine allow them to be slightly off... They may tell you "you are in the green". This means that you are within the tolorance. This also may mean you are not perfectly aligned, hence, your problem. Take your mechanic for a test ride and show him exactly what is wrong. He may then compensate the tolorance. Thats if it is an alignment problem.
