SRS Question
my airbags deployed years ago
my car is back in good shape, but the srs light is on
would this method still work for me???
to those who are familiar with this method
THanks in advance
Steps:
1) In order to find the MES Connector on an Accord or CL, you have to be on your back and looking up at the fuse box. There are two plugs that are both yellow with green wires coming out of them, but the looms around the wires are yellow. The smaller of these two plugs is the MES Connector. They are located above the hood release latch and plugged into the backside of the fuse box. Once again, the smaller (upper) plug is the MES Connector.
2) Clip one alligator clip to one of the prongs and the other alligator clip to the other prong. If you're using 2
strands of wire, you won't be clipping, but twisting or shoving the wire into the respective prongs.
3) Hold the two ends of your wire together, so that they are now connected.
4) Keeping the wires connected, turn the ignition on (Do NOT start your car).
5) The SRS light comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off. Quickly
disconnect the two wires.
6) The SRS light will come on again. Quickly reconnect your wires.
7) The SRS light goes off. Disconnect your wire connection.
8) If you did this correctly, the SRS will blink twice.
9) Turn the ignition off and wait 10 seconds.
10) Turn the ignition on, thus starting your car, and hopefully the SRS light will now be off.
11) Turn your car off, assuming the above instructions worked and your SRS light is off. If not, either retry the
instructions and/or verify that nothing else is wrong.
11) Remove your wires, do not cross them at all or let them touch. Replug the yellow/green connector back into
the "dummy harness".
Problems?
- You only have a 4 second window to connect/disconnect the wires. Example: when the SRS light comes on in
Step 6, you have 4 seconds to reconnect the wires.

It'll reset it, but if there's a fault in your SRS system, it'll come back on (probably pretty quick). Have you replaced the bags or not? SRS sensor may need to be replaced also ($$$)
People might bash you saying turning the light off is unethical or whatever. Its wrong to do if you're selling the car, but if you're keeping it, Acura will reset the light for you and take about a hundred bucks out of your wallet at the same time.

I just hope the OP wouldn't remove the bulb and then sell the car... ugh that makes me not want to buy any used car, haha. Fortunately the SRS light comes on at ignition as a test so you can see if it lights up.

When SRS light is on, the Air bags will not be functional. controller units (in the passanger seat back) and 1 SRS sensors (within the passanger seat). and may be reset it. or maybe one of the electrical clip have been shorted. check the seat belt clip as well

yeah after my accident i replaced both airbags...
tried getting acura to reset the code.. they said it came back on after they reset it.
"10-1 SRS Unit Replacement" ,, $505 + Tax installed
I think i'll try resetting it myself with the DIY guide before shelling anything out..
maybe someone here has a spare unit?
i think ive seen them go for like 50 bux one ebay
