Srs Airbag Light

has anyone had a problem with their SRS AIRBAG light coming on one the dash?.... Even before it was on, I got in a head on accident at about 40mph and the airbags DID NOT deploy...whats up with it?

Don't know if this will answer your questions, but if the light is on, that means the bags aren't going to deploy. well the passenger side bag anyway. this can happen if you have removed the seat ever, or if there is an electrical field close to the seat. a power inverter or something under the seat can de-activate the airbag.

the bags also shut off if there is a certain amount of weight in the passenger seat...I think between 20 and 50 pounds or something like that...its a safety thing for if you have a little kid in the seat

well i was the only one in the car and they never deployed in that accident...???...oh well - i don't think i'm gonna worry about taking it in.

The thing you said about the electrical field close to the seat though...are you saying that the power seats could be conflicting with the airbag signal?

no not the power seats, but aftermarket stuff.

I don't remember what the reason is for that.

if you have your phone plugged in with the charger and sitting on the passenger seat I have heard that can deactivate the airbag.

Thats only on pass. side though. You might want to get it checked out if your bads didn't come out in a 40mph collision

My srs light has been on for about 5 months now!!! Dealer wanted something like $75 just to reset it. Anyone know how to turn that shit off??? I've already disconnected the battery and the sucker keeps coming back on. I also unplugged the srs fuses. THe funny thing is that the light came on after I filled the tank up with gas. So I dont know whaT caused it to turn on.

Mine turned on cuz i left the paperclip stuck in the service connector for a while. Try sticking one in for a while than unplugging it after a day of driving :P~
