Speaker install

Ya'll know the search ain't what it used to be.

Can anybody help me with a front speaker install? One of mine finally blew so I'm replacing them. From taking a look at it today, it looks like I have to pull the whole door panel out.

If anybody can give me some tips, that would be helpful. Never did any audio work on my car. Thanks.

I'll try to help you out.

1. Remove the screw that holds the door handle in. There's a plug for the door lock, unplug that. After the black plastic piece could be removed. Once that is remove. Remove the two screws that's holding in the door handle itself. Then there's two plastic pieces that's holding in this metal rod, unhook it. Now you'll be able to remove the door handle.

2. Where the arm rest is on the door panel, remove that plastic piece ( when standing up look down, you'll see a plastic piece. Remove it and you'll see a screw) Remove that screw.

3. Get a flat head screw driver and pop off that black piece where the side mirrors are.

4. From the side, start pulling off the panel (they're clipped on all around the side.)

5. Once the panel is removed, pull up and the panel is come off, don't pull too hard. Once you pull it off, reach over and unplug the light plug, and window control plugs.

That should be it. basically 4 screws I believe. If i'm wrong someone correct me. This is just from the top of my head.

Oh yea, have the window rolled down, it will be easier to remove and put back on.

You need to do it if you aren't using Bose speakers.

Thanks for the detailed response 99CL. It should help me out a lot when I get to doing it. Have any other tips regarding the install? Is it pretty much a pop and swap job? Anything in particular to look out for?

Thanks for the input guys.

Alright,

I just ripped off the door panel after work today to see if I could do a quick swap and I ran into the white plug that goes into the stock speaker.

I have a set of speakers that don't have the white socket that the plug should go into. How do I get my speakers to fit? Do I need an adapter or something?

Please help if ya can. I've never done this before. Thanks.

well you can cut off the plug and just solder the wires to the speaker... or i think you can buy an adapter... crutchfield might have them.

or circuit city. they have the adapters.

your speakers might not work if your stereo system is by bose. you'll know it if it says bose on the cd player or on the back speaker grills

Thanks for the help guys. Are the adapters just "snap-on's" or am I gonna have to do some soldering work. I'm not quite sure how I would get the adapter to stay on the speaker without having to solder.
