some car wash questions

hey guys..

just did a half ass job of cleaning my car today...planning to do a full clean when im effin SURE its not gonna rain anymore.

but i wanted to see what you guys use...ive searched the boards and have found a few tips here and there...didnt see a default car cleaning guide anywhere (not that i think there is one)...

heres what i use so far...keep in my i use all meguires (sp?) stuff..except for my clay bar which is mothers

outside:
-meguires glass clean soap (i think thats what its called..its like 8 bucks a bottle i think)
-mothers clay bar and lubricant soap when needed
-for my tires i use that meguires super shine stuff..
-for wax i use this blue stuff that comes in a bottle...its carnuba i think and it was like 12 bucks for the friggin bottle...its not klasse (although i think i should use that stuff)...i use a buffer when i buff it off...

inside:
-for my leather i use that mercedes benz conditioner stuff...works nice and softens up my leather nicely..
-then i use meguires foam conditioner...smells good too...

my arsenel probably isnt as heavy as some of your guy's but id like some tips and stuff...i feel like im not using the right products ...any tips?

i read on one of my searches that one of you guys uses laundry detergent? man i used to use that on my civic and it screwed up my paint. 1000 bucks on a new paint job isn't worth using laundry detergent...

if you live in so. cal. go to the meguiar's meet that we are having on sat. you have to sign up and sign up on meguiars.com its a free class. if you got the same class somewhere else it would at least cost you about 50 bucks.

12 bucks on wax isn't that much just so you know lol, I spent over $100 on all of my car cleaning products, if you want a real good shine, use the clay bar, then use a paint cleaner, you buff it on and buff it off, then use a polisher, buff that on and off as well, then use a good paste wax, it's tougher to put on but gives a better shine and lasts longer in my opinion. Meguiars is a good company, I only use meguiars products, they seem to be the best. Also think about investing in an electric buffer, saves your arms some serious strain.

It's easy for me, I dont wash it, at all. I've washed it a total of 3 times in 2 years. Then again, it only ran for a month in those 2 years, lol.

When I wash the Mistress, I go to the power wash place. Use the tire spray, pre-soak, then I concentrate the preasure spray on the worst areas, behind the wheels, the back and front.... at about the last minute, I fill the bucket. I have a terry cloth mitt, two heavy spunges and a tire/wheel brush. Panel by panel I wash with the mitt and spunges. Then, with the brush and spunge, I clean the wheels. Then I spray soap again to make sure all the crap is off. Spray rinse, spray wax, spray rinse again to remove excess. For drying, I start at the roof, then windows, then panel by panel to the back. I use two drying spunges that are wrapped in microfiber to remove all of the beaded water then return with the microfiber cloth for the finish. I then spray Tire Wet on the wheels, roll the car forward a tad, and complete the wheels with a last couple of sprays and a wipe off the rims with a terry cloth towel.

As for the interior, a water wet microfiber spunge and microfiber towel are used for the windows. Amonia will ruin a good tint. Then I use Wilson's leather conditioner for the seats and dash.

I made the mistake of using Armor All once when I ran out of Wilson's. When it got real cold, I leaned into the car to get something out and a small crack "popped" on the front of my driver's seat. You can't see it, but I know it is there. Oh well, I won't ever do that again.
