So I bought a 1997 3.0 CL Today!
Hey guys! I'm new around here, so let me start of with a simple hi!
I needed a car to drive to school, and I needed something reliable and capable of taking brutal New York City road beatings and at the same time have a rich touch to the car. Boy-o-boy did the CL fit my every demand and even moreso!
First, I'd like to say that there is a killer sense of community here, which is AWESOME, because that gives good feelings to us Acura owners. I like knowing that others are out there with solutions to problems we might encounter. Keep up the good work, I searched a lot of topics on this board and found it VERY usefull!
So my car, if all goes well with the insurance, arrives tomorrow! I am SO excited. It's my first car (I'm going to be 19 soon, entering my second year of college) and I'm ecstatic. Let me tell you a little bit about my car, from what I saw today:
1997 Acura CL
3.0 Premium 4-Speed Automatic
Cyclone Blue Metallic
45,000 Miles
(I'll list options just because I love to boast about it, don't we all?)
Dark Gray leather interior
No spoiler (which is good in my case since I like the simplicity of the back, without a spoiler that is...)
CD, Fake wood trim ()
You know the rest...I'm sure
The car is VERY clean and drives awesome. Looks like it's in pristine condition, no dings scratches or anything (that I could notice at least) Picked it up for a little below $12,000 which I was told is a great price for the car by many people.
Originally I wanted a Toyota Solara coupe...but it looks like the tables have turned on that decision. I am so excited, I can't wait to be able to wash my car in the summer, pick up some friends, and of course...travel to school in style I can't wait to have some pics for you guys by tomorrow hopefully.
So yeah, just wanted to say hello to everyone and announce that I have finally joined the real world

Congrats on the new car, as a relativly new member to the board I can tell you that these people can answer ANY question you'll ever have about the car. It's a great resource and everyone is really nice and ever so helpful.

I just got mine a couple of months ago. That's a good deal considering it only has 45,000 miles on it. I got mine for about 10,000 but it had 80,000 miles on it at the time.

Thanks all
I feel so out of place here though! Everyone is talking about mods and rims and such...I'm jealous hehe...I was never into modding cars for some reason. I mean, I'd love to do some aesthetic improvements, like clear corner lights, maybe a little more faux wood inside, etc...but when it comes to assembling and reassembling engine parts...count me out, I'm a spaz like that.
I'm looking forward to chatting with you all, you all seem like awesome, friendly people

Fixing up 1st gen CL3.0
I have to say that I'm astounded at the CL community. I've had my '97 3.0CL for about a year now. I'm completely pleased with it. I'm now entertaining new wheels/tires. I've noticed dustbuster4, and clextreme's cars, quite nice. I have to ask though, I like dustbuster4's rims and wheels, and have found a tire package on the net, but I'm not too sure if it will look as cool without a drop like clextreme's. What say you guys?
