So Confused!
In about one years time my dad is going to buy a new car, now he has given me the choice of either selling my car and taking his 99 nissan maxima se, or him selling his and me keeping the ol' 97 2.2 CL. This is a tough one because the CL is my first car and it does have some sentamental value to it, but is the sweet handling and power of the maxima enough to break this value.
and who knows maybe with enough suspension mods the CL might be able to out handle the maxima!(though unlikely)
so basically Im asking what you guys would do you know how theres just something about CL's but the Maxima is sweet to! HELP!!!

you're about to go to college, keep the CL and take good care of it, it'll last you till after you graduate college (don't know about maxima since i'm not familiar with nissans)...
Plus the factor of a nicely modded CL is far greater than a Maxima ...

I would definitely keep the CL. You're young and need a reliable car which the CL definitely is. Plus the badge factor of owning an acura is way better to tell to a female than owning a nissan lol. truuust me i've been there. i went from a CL that got totaled to a nissan altima, right back to a CL because although my nissan had most of the options the CL had (leather, CD, moonroof, etc.), it was severely lacking in the "it" factor, i've never ever had such problems w/my CL In fact, people always think my car is newer than it really is! So i'm definitely voting for CL

Ya i would have to agree with most of you guys, I do love my CL ( i mean who wouldn't) so i guess its on with the parts buying! I was holding off on some suspension mods till i thought things out, plus i think it would be cooler to have a moded CL then Maxima, maximas are a dime a dozen

maximas are quick, but their auto trannies have problems. my grandfather had one a few years back and it was always in the shop.

Keep the CL. It's only 2 years older and a lot nicer than the 99 model Maxima. Sure the Maxima has more power, but who cares, with the right stuff you can add a little hp to your CL, and look better too.

you see maxima's everywhere, you rarely see 1st gen cl's, and I'd take a honda over a nissan everyday unless its a z, g35, or skyline just like blackack said. Do you want originality or rarity or mainstream because it's a bit faster?

Stick with the CL. It's classy lines are a lot more distinctive than the Maxima's Taurus-like lines. Even now people can't accurately guess what year my 97 is. Most think its only a couple years old.

Peace, Love & Acura
Definately the CL, Nissans wish they were Toyotas.
They are crap. OK, Fair Ladies and G35s and old Zs are nice, but all the rest are crap. Cheap plastic interior parts, inferior components... etc. Stay with the CL.
It is funny how people look at a freshly waxed CL. I washed the Mistress last Saturday, and people kept checking her out. ha ha... I love it when people stare at my CL. She's steals the sunshine from Nissans and Toyotas all day long. And then she breaks their little hearts.
my CL.

However back to the topic, If you want show go with the CL. If you want performance, go with the maxima because that thing is fucking fast.

i've owned a 95 maxima and a 99 cl. they both have their ups and downs. but i think overall i think the maxima is a better car all around car comfort and speed wise. but the cl is a lot better on reliability and gas ( dont mean to offend anyone on this forum btw. )
ive also had a 95 ka 240 and a 89 sr 240. both cars were very good to me
