Slow charging Battery.

Wow my first post on a new site for my new (98) 3.0 CL Prem.

Actually, SLOW draining Batt.

Question. My battery is SLOWLY dieing after about a week. I know when Its going to not start, when (at night) my turn signals kind of drain my dash lights (dash lights pulse with the blink). I know then that it won't start sometime soon.

I get no warning from the dash (idiot) light that it is not charging so I assume it is, to some extent. Could this be the alternator?

I also noticed that the thick connection (right one) under the hood back by the fuse panel is slightly corroded with white dust. I believe the fairly thick cable goes to the Alt or battery. Again, I just got the car and don't exactly know what/where everything is yet. (I would if it were my old RX7). So any info would be a huge help.

I'm getting it Certified in Orlando next Sat, and hope the 100,000 mi. warrenty covers this. (I can't be changing and charging batteries every week).

Thanks again
W

When my battery went, I had no warning at all. I'd put money on your alternator charging less than it should.

If you bought the car recently from a dealer most likely the battery is dead. Dealers have cars sitting around sometimes for months. They get very little use and the batteries especially batteries that arent brand new (used, trade in etc...) get drained. You might want to consider buying a new battery before you get left stranded in some parking lot.

Most of the time if shit happens like that, its going to be the battery. Just go and spend $40 and get it replaced that way you dont have to worry about it anymore. Good luck man

I did end up buying a new battery. That was a week ago. Now the turn signals are affecting the dash/interior lights again (I'm waiting to get the no start). I don't think the turn signals are the cause, just an effect. When it doesn't start, everything is bright, just not enough juice to crank her over. (I get the clicking/flashing dash scenario).

I'm getting the car certified Sat, so I'm hoping they will track down the problem when it's there in the shop.

Thanks for the help. Like I said, I'm new with this car and on this site. You never know when same type cars have the same problems, and I was hoping that it was a common problem.

I'll let you guys know what I find out when (and I pray, IF) Accura fixes the prob. Damn, I hope it isn't one of those "electrical gremlins" nobody can find the fix for.

BTW My car was a lease turn in (to Accura), and I got it the day it came in, so thank God it wasn't sitting around long. She's a beaut.

Thanks again

If you replaced the battery allready its going to be the alternator. It'll cost you about $300 parts and labor if your warranty doesn't cover it.
