Shoot me
Hey guys...it's been a long time and I come bearing bad news. My CL is gone.. Unfortunately my sister hit it. She decided to leave in her truck and in doing so scraped the bumper along the side of my car causing a grand total of $2600 dollars in damage. The insurance company decided not to total it but I decided to sell it because it was getting up there in age and the transmission was beginning to have some troubles. So right now I own a Ford Focus........... It is a 2001. Now, it's not the average grocery getter. I mean, someone put like 3k worth of shit on it to make this thing a track monster but dude, I miss the hell out of my CL. I'm really trying to figure something out to get into another one. I have 1400 in a bank account but the catch is that one of the Focus's coilovers is messed up apparently. It makes a pretty bad clunk and rattle on the driver's side. So, I need to fix that before I can sell it. The catch is that that is going to cost about 500-600 dollars because I need to redo the suspension. I can't just get another coilover. And to make it worse I don't even know who the f**k makes it so I can't look up on how to work on it to see if it is something simple that may be able to be fixed. I'm just in a big f**king mess and I miss my baby....

Damn, that sucks to hear. Ur CL was pretty damn clean. Maybe you can find some stock Focus suspension and put that on instead and then sell it. Or post pics in a Focus forum and find out who makes that suspension.

Alright dudes. I put my thinking cap on and got under to really figure out what the hell was going on. So it turns out that I was not actually hearing a clunk. What I was hearing was the spring jumping in the perches during suspension travel as the energy built up during spring binding was released. I got under there and was able to twist the spring around a few times which was able to free it up. I will lube the top perch to keep it free so it doesn't bind anymore. Drove it after all of this and it rides like butter. Will definitely be a quick sell with all the suspension and engine work on it. Then it's back into another CL hopefully =) Oh, in case anyone wondered, here is a link to what the Focus looks like. Nowhere near as clean as my old CL

I love when something you think is a large dilemma is a quick fix!
Does that mean we should start helping you look for another CL?

Ya guys I'm looking for a CL. I have a couple in mind but I'm not sure whether to commit to a 3.0 because of the rumored transmission problems.
These are the primary ones I'm looking at.

I'd say if it has to be automatic, might as well get a 3.0 because they tend to crap out on both the 3.0 and the 2.x, why not have the extra power? I'd personally buy a 2.3 5 speed and swap in an H for easy quick power and stock driveability

It doesn't have to be auto. I just prefer it. The Focus is a manual. It's fun, but I'm just not really that into it. Plus the Focus is just a different kinda car, mostly an auto-x monster. I've come to realize how nice it is just to sit back and cruise in comfort and let the car do all the work. I thought the 2.X's did not have the tranny problems that the 3.0's did, though...? Maybe I'm mistaken.

Well, it's not a CL but I'm currently trying to work a deal on a '95 Legend LS Sedan. It just showed up today at the dealership I work with. It's black with black leather with.....109,000 miles! On a '95! It's such a darn nice car. I'm really hoping it works out, dudes (and dudettes). I'll take my camera tomorrow to work and take some shots (I'm working on the detail on it and yes I'm doing an extra good job because it might be mine soon).
