Settle this debate

Some friends and I were having a small discussion over CAI and short ram air intakes. Which one is made for top end and which one is made for low end?

all depends on the design really, piping diameter, bends, shape, etc. An intake can be designed for gains in any section of the powerband...

try www.aempower.com and look at their dynos to see if you can find any direct comparisons.

cai = more peak power and mostly power up mid to high not to mention loss in low end in most cases

short ram = more power down low about 1/2 as much peak hp

cai = lower 1/4 mile ets vs short ram on same vehicle, for stop light racing a short ram might be better

well took it to the track and with a short ram my 0=60 was slower but the 1/4 mile time was faster than with the cai. get the newer aem cai and its two pieces s you can alway make it a short ram

short ram intakes have better throttle response, but the air is warmer than a cold-air
