serius audio help
i just bought a '97 CL with the 6-speaker Bose stereo system. I tried replacing just the HU, but every HU that I installed (3 of them) none of them produces any sound when i play a CD. I used a Metra wiring harness to do the install. The FM radio works fine on all three HU 's that I tried, but I can't hear the CD's. I'm pretty sure that all three HU's that I bought (one of them being the panasonic 8303) can't be defective, but now i'm at a loss. I've heard of the bose system being complicated and that I might need to rewire the stock amp, but from what i've read on these forums, all i should have needed was the metra harness. any help would be appreciated.

You have a stock bose amp in the trunk that isn't being turned on by the radio, people on here claim that you can trigger it, but I tried 5 or 6 different methods to trigger it and none worked for me. The easiest fix is to bypass the amp using a guide like this. A couple of his wire colors may be off, but you'll get the idea, I've done this on 2 CL's to and it fixed both of them, including mine.

I dont know much about car audio, but i remember everyone saying that you have to bypass the stock amp. use the search button and see what you find. Im sure blackack or someone else will chime in soon and tell you exactly what to do. Good luck

You can also try hooking the remote wire up to the blue honda "power antenna" wire, some say it works, didn't for the 2 cars I tried it on which led me to bypass, but it's an easy try b4 you hack your amp harness apart, otherwise, use what I posted above, inputs to outputs for the amp wires, thus bypassing them. 2 powers and ground get taped off and not used. G'luck let us know what you end up doing.
Go to http://soundgate.com/index.php?reque...usereferrer=1& They have an radio replacement interface for factory amplified systems that you plug into the back of your new head unit before wiring it to your amp. It costs about 70 dollars and is the only non invasive way of adding an after market headunit to your car. If not, then you will need to replace the speakers and amp or run/splice alot of wires. The reason this occurs is because the Bose amp output is 2 ohms while all aftermarket radios are at 4 ohms. Took me 2 hours to install everything.

It sounds like the radio is using its power antenna wire to turn the factory amp on and off so when you turn the radio off and turn the cd player on the sound cuts out because the power antenna wire does not have power anymore. You should just be able to take what ever wire you have hooked up to the power antenna wire on the radio and just hook it up to ignition. That will give it power when ever the car is on. If the radio has a remote wire try hooking that up to it and see if that works.
So i ended up installing an in-line converter behind the bose HU. everything works, but it seems that the signal from the HU into the aftermarket amp is weak. my sub works, but i know it can hit harder. i tried other amps, and am getting the same problem. any suggestions/solutions?
I'm running a 12" Audiobahn sub powered by a 1000w Sony Xplod that is hooked up to the Bose system, so i'm still running the stock bose system.

Hi i tryed searching and has found some fourm but has not solve/answer my question.. pretty simple. i install a alpine head unit and after the installation the streeing wheel audio control does not work anymore. is there a way to make it work? does it cost more money to buy an additional adapter? (as stated i have already install my radio and already has an wire harness, work fine just the steering control)
