Second Gear Starts in Automatic

I have a 1997 Acura CL 3.0... We live in Houston, but will be making a trip up north in about a week. This car has NEVER seen snow. My question is this: In low traction situations, is there a way to start in 2nd gear? The manual says nothing about it, but I thought maybe some of you would have an idea about it.... Thanks.

Put it in "2" and go. Might get a sluggish slow start but it will work.

Thanks for your reply. We had thought that putting it in "2" just meant that it would only go as far as second gear, but still start in first. Our mistake. We tried it earlier, and you are completely right. Sluggish start is what we're looking for. If we're on ice, we don't want the unbelievable power that our gem usually has.

Thanks again.

I use "2" to start off in the snow.

Otherwise, it's just a gear that my car must go through to hit "4".
